Thunderstorms

Used to love a good thunderstorm until last year:eek: we had a really bad one in Newcastle, lasted for hours the rain was o heavy the whole place came to a standstill. Several business's got flooded and I was stranded after work with no transport and heavy traffic for around 3-4 hours. A bolt of lightening actually hit the Tyne bridge worst storm I've ever seen and seen a really bad one in Florida a few years back .

yea my road stanhope street just up from the football stadium was like a river :D
all the drain covers were popping up from the force of the water and it was awesome :D

I remember a huge one over Glastonbury Festival, I believe it was 2005. Spent several hours in the early morning watching it sipping wine while sat under a gazebo :p

Was interesting the next morning walking down to the main site and seeing half the tents under water!

Bring on the thunderstorms - need to clear the air.

Used to have proper one's when I was a kid, and my parents house used to shake.

Last good one I saw was in the Australian outback, on the veranda watching it roll in, standing in the sun with beer in hand - storm was miles away!

Ok, we had the longest spell of heatwave in UK, but thunderstorms is normally happen in late evening as I haven't seen it for ages (the last one of the best electric storm back in 1990's) but since it only a few times.

Has thunderstorms lack in UK?

I remember one in NE London back then that went on for hours - Purely electrical and very eerie and spooky clouds with a tint of purple. The whole sky was rippling with electric at some points....

:)

Do love a good old Thunderstorm, as long as it doesn't harm anyone/anything.

We should be in store for a goodun after all this high pressure.

I love the way they make you feel so small and how much bigger nature is than us. Reminds us that there are higher forces/ powers working above us, call it what you will!

does Spartacus & Crixus need to kill Theokoles for some god damn rain or something...

It looked a dead certainty earlier and now it's hot and blue again FFS!

Lincolnshire usually gets a few, along with long blackouts. Not had a storm so far this year, but there have been a few rumbles of thunder in the distance from time to time over the last few weeks.

Was gonna mention there was a little thunder and lightening in Grantham last Saturday. We were just finishing up a barbecue and the heavens opened. Wasn't very exciting though. I do love a good storm!
