If I remember rightly, lightning is negatively charged, as are the clouds that bring the storms, the UK has a predominantly negative outlook, so the two mostly repel each other, however, with recent sporting success, we are feeling quite positive, and thus, the storms are coming..

Suns back out now after one 'clap' of thunder and a bit of rain. Stupid weather! Hope we get a decent storm today.

Most lightning is negatively charged. You do get positive lightning also and that's the stuff that does the real damage. From what i recall, planes are only protected from negatively charged lightning

I love the way they make you feel so small and how much bigger nature is than us. Reminds us that there are higher forces/ powers working above us, call it what you will!

Hopefully we get a good one. More for the thunder and lightning, and less for the rain.

& I still get annoyed when you have insurance companies calling weather "An act of God." God must be a right ****.

Look like Thunderstorms going to miss some places in the Midlands is rather annoying. I think it won't be severe one now. Disappointed.

Can see some dark and nasty looking clouds moving in from the south, at canary wharf in my office at the moment. Meant to be getting some rain and whatnot tomo but i wouldnt be surprised if we get none...
