TICKETMASTER IS ****

Artic monkeys did something simillar for their last gig. Though you just needed to have the original creidt card that was used to purchase the tickets with you. Meant the touts had to go the extra mile of applying for cards and buying the tickets with them then cancelling and selling cards with the tickets.

So this is about 5 years old at least, been going on for ages and pretty much the run of the mill thing that happens since the Ipod got popular.
It is a shambles, and nothing will be done about it since even Ticketmaster buy into the reselling of their tickets, GetMeIn is Ticketmaster too.

Been stung many many times just trying to gift tickets as a present to someone for Christmas or a birthday to find out that the tickets went in seconds.
Really no point in complaining, it's too late for that.

Suggest signing up to ticket alert websites and having access to a few PC's on the day of sale.

And reading back the method of card tied to ticket is good but will never become the normal. There is far too much money involved for Ticketmaster to play that game. I think Pearl Jam eluded to this in the past that Ticketmaster were getting out of hand. For that to take off the artist would need to enforce that (see NIN) and as long as the artist is getting more hype you have no chance what-so-ever.

The process for online gig/festival ticket selling needs a complete overhaul. We too readily accept overburdened servers crapping out over demand, ludicrous reselling at overblown prices the instant the gig sells out, random admin/booking/credit card/delivery charges that seem to be pulled out of a hat without explanation etc. etc. Nothing seems to have changed since tickets first went on sale online.

So lets have digital methods for album sales upgraded and premium with a coupon to get a ticket for that tour?
Physical methods with the same.

Works for me, however I feel the entire model is so completely flawed and in the mindset of 50% of your album sales, 30% of your merch sales and after two albums you can do a greatest hits that things will never change.

Live Nation + Ticketmaster is one company, that's rather sad. :(.
