Right, 1 Week of being unemployed and after circa 20 applications/sending off of CV's it seems unlikely I'm going to be able to get much else so I've decided tomorrow to take the plunge and apply at McD's!

Anyone ever worked there? whats it like? whats starting wage? What are they like with ours? often get called in to cover others/are they flexible etc?

Ta

Alec

Good luck with the interview and respect for taking the job. Wish you all the best for the future and hope you find what you really want to do. :)

I know a job's a job, but oh dear!

Worst decision Id ever make is working there, hope I dont end up doing same as you :(

Great support there, snobs.

Good on you Alec for doing whatever you have to do to start earning, the country would be in a much better state if more people had the same attitude as you.

One of the reasons some people don't, is no doubt down to certain people passing judgement on people who have such jobs, as if they're somehow worth less or not as important because they don't have a brilliant job.

It's surprising how much you see it, and it's quite pathetic, it says more about the person judging than it does the person being judged, it says a lot about a messed up section of society where a person's worth is judged on their career.

I admire Alec's attitude of getting out there and getting job, no matter what it takes.

Seconded- every credit for not sitting on yer backside waiting for handouts. Keep trying for something else by all means, but I've got a lot of respect for you for going for any job in the mean time :)

Thanks a lot Mr White.

Isn't the most glamorous job by far, but it is one. And I'm sure it can be enjoyable if you make it!

Anyway, before any of that I've got to actually get the job! There are two in the town center so I will go investigating shortly.

when i left school at 16 i applied for a newly opening KFC and got no responce :(

Thought I was unemployable at the time.

Just done the application form, time to go hand it in. :( How do you walk into somewhere that busy and ask to speak to the manager :( I'm gonna look like a totall eeejit :(

Wish me luck.

You can earn fairly decent money as a manager of a Maccys, well according to their own adverts anyway..

Oh, and make sure you salt the fries, can't understand why some McDonalds have stopped salting them :(

You get a free meal or a free breakfast plus staff discount...GO! GO! GO! lol

My wife worked there for 3 months part time and said she would NEVER go back...surely cant be that bad? lol

people don't hate working at mcdonalds because of snobbery, they hate it because it's a crap job! nobody does a mcdonalds job because they actually WANT to, the guy needs cash and knows it - and it's commendable he's going out there to get it - but he's also considered that he probably isn't going to enjoy it a great deal.

Your hands will get covered in burns from the grill, you will be covered in grease at the end of every day and get a lot of spots, you wont be able to leave on time, all the customors will be rude to you, and you have to eat disgusting Mcdonalds food on your lunch break.

I did 2 days there when I was a student, dont do it, apply for a supermarket job instead.
