Time to get me McJob

You want your tax money to pay someone who does volunteer work? ... I want to punch people in the mouth that don't work when they are physically able to. I'm struggling in the middle class because between myself and my wife we pay about £1500 a month is taxes.

Kick the people off the dole so that my taxes drop and my quality of life will improve, after all, I've bloody well earned it!

1) Yes, I'd rather someone did volunteer work in the hope they could make a genuine contribution to society. I don't care about my tax money in this context, given the sheer amount that is wasted in so many ways I'd happily have people doing voluntary work than working in jobs that are definately dead end.

2) You're asking me if I'm on crack whilst telling me you want to hurt people.

3) You've got a comfortable job and your concern is only about your pocket.

Do not ever get a mcjob. The pay is awful and the night premium is 50p more, yes 50p more (I left 18months ago though it may have changed). I got 4.25 an hour at 6am on easter sunday when I was 17, and when I turned 18 the pay increased to 4.50 an hour, WOW!!. You get many scars from cutting yourself, accompanied with some nice burns cars too. The wage is crap, the propects are crap, and people laugh at you because you work at maccys, and you STINK after every shift and are all greasy.

Sunday is paid at single rate aswel.
Honestly, do not work there, people will loose all respect for you, and a years salary when I was there for over 21s was only 12k if you put in 45 hours a week (breaks are unpaid). Thats going off 12000/52=230 a week 230/5.15 =44.8

The problem isn't just with McDonalds though, we get people treating £16k a year jobs as if they are McJobs all the time... (remember this is in an area where the average wage is £12k) Strangely never those who have previously worked in McD's, or indeed seem to understand much about life...

If you think working in McD's is Hard Work then life is passing you by. Working in McD's is low reward, which is why I'd advise against it.

urm, its supposed to help the people who cant get jobs, not the people that would rather cherry pick.

You're right. Sorry. I guess things always work how they're supposed too, right? In my view this guy wants to work, but currently cannot get a job, and is settling for, let's be honest, a job which will leave him unfulfilled and contribute nothing to society.

If it takes him a little while to do something which will ultimately land him a better job and contribute to society, then I think he is more deserving of government help that most people who do claim.

Dude - I don't usually go off on people over the net, but are you on crack?! I'm struggling in the middle class because between myself and my wife we pay about £1500 a month is taxes.

You're "struggling" in the Middle Classes? Pull the other one. You have a tax bill alone that is more than a lot of people earn yet you want to kick people off the dole so you can "have a better quality of life"? How on earth can you improve your quality of life any more other than to buy more things?

You are the one on crack and by the way being Middle Class isn't just about about what you earn.

It's so difficult in the middle classes, you really have no idea. Sometimes he can't even SuperSize his meal.

they banned super size, after that American **** made that film where he shoved a truckload of McDonald's down his neck.

******* ****

id like to work at mcd's but ONLY if i can have a job just working in the back somewhere away from the customers lol (the shame):D, so NOT working on the tills either 'frontdesk' or 'drive thru' i wouldnt want to clean around the table either (unless the stores closed/empty)

I personally wouldn't work for Mc Donalds because it's not a company I have respect for. I could go into reasons but most people should be able to assume why.

But if you're happy working for them then I respect you in the fact that your grabbing a job. I have been on JSA and they did say why not try Mc Ds, BK etc but I said no way. I then found a job at a small cafe which I worked at through the summer. Was nice working in the Cornish sun and chatting to the tourists. :)

Are there no temping agencies near you? The work might be less often, but you get paid more. You can also potentially get offered a contract, that's what happened to me a few summers ago and I've been able to go back every summer since :)
Aye, would agree with that. For relatively short term work, agencies are a lot better than sending out dozens of CVs to retail/fast food places.

CBS you're nuts man....I'm personally offended...

In response to #1 - I'd rather have the people employed and have lower taxes.

#2 - If people are on the dole when they don't need to be I consider that a misuse of taxes. I contribute unwillingly to these taxes so I feel as though I am being stolen from. When people steal from me - I hit them, just like any non-wuss would do.

and lastly

#3 - I do have a comfortable job. I work 4 days a week and get paid for 5. I get private health care (although I am still forced to pay N.I. for reasons I don't quite understand.) I get a company matching pension (although I am still forced to pay N.I. for reasons I don't quite understand.)

Did I always have this job? NO! Not many people know this about me, but I used to be homeless - not homeless shelter homeless; but proper, living on the streets in the US, going hungry for days at a time, etc...It's a period of my life I don't let too many people here in the UK know about (and most of the people I've mentioned it to didn't believe me.)

I only bring this up because I came out of all that, with a little luck and a LOT of hard work. I never worked at McD's but I worked fast food for two years. Was I happy with that job? No - but I was earning a living. You see, that whole time I was homeless I never stole or took any government benefits (despite what people think about the US, the benefit system is very good.) I knew I was physically able to work, so I figured it unfair for me to get money for not working. After working about 25 crap jobs, I've finally landed a good one.

I do care about my pocket, but not for the reasons you think. I want my family to have nice things. I like computers. By looking in my sig you can see I hardly have a computer that I brag about (although it's good enough for now.) Is it a crime for me to want to take my 20 month old daughter to Legoland or Thorpe Park? I'm FAR from wealthy - as a matter of fact, come to Swanscombe - in Kent and see what a craphole I live in. I was recently offered a raise at work, and I told my boss that I didn't want a raise (I feel I make a fair salary for what I do) but if he could lower taxes for me I'd be very grateful. Obvously I took the raise but that's not the point...as far as I'm concerned taxes are theft. Hell, I don't even pay taxes - they are already taken from me when I get paid.

Anything to lower taxes is good for me, and If it's good for me than it's good for my family. If by having more money in my pocket I can buy my family nicer things, pay for nicer education for my daughter, etc, means i'm a bad person, then lock my up in jail, for I am guilty! SHAME ON ME.
