Timeless Albums

I still think 'North' is the best mix I've ever heard. The amount of people I know that have thrown off their preconceptions and 'discovered' dance music through that CD is unbelievable.

South, while still being extremely good, doesn't quite match up as well, but I can still listen to Exp01 and Exp02 on a daily basis and not get tired of them.

Expedition 1 (Track 1 > 2) is my favourite start from the NE range but Exp01 comes a close second!

Can I hear this anywhere before buying the CD?

It's not on iTunes.

Post 2000 I'd say,

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
The Libertines - The Libertines
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights

I've never seen it on anything other than CD or Vinyl and never heard of it being released electronically. You could probably find a bootleg if you looked hard enough, but that's cheating.

If you can find the double-CD for a reasonable price: buy it! If you're disappointed you can easily get your money back on eBay. I've got three copies; one mint for 'keepsies', one to be used and one I'll give to a friend as and when I feel the time is right, prices are always fixed around the same mark for the double-CD so it's a worthwhile investment.

Kinda wish I had the vinyl too.

There's technically three Northern Exposure albums, but I count four.

Northern Exposure:

This is the best of the lot - the first CD (North) is what I was talking about in my OP.

Northern Exposure 2:

This is the two-disc version of the second album (watch for the Eastcoast/Westcoast editions which are single CDs) and is almost as excellent.

Expeditions (Northern Exposure 3):

I find Tracks 1 & 2 of the first CD to be my favourite intro of any mix. Every time I hear Breeder:Tyrantanic I always expect Space Manoevres:Stage One to follow it. I can never get tired of hearing this album play.

Communicate (what I call Northern Exposure 4):

This is probably the weakest of the three, but it's still an amazing album. Well worth completing your collection with this.

I've never heard of a Pixies album by that name. I went to see them when they toured promoting Doolittle c.1989 (contains that track).
yeah that was total brain fade on my part :o I blame too many random shifts on that one

Well I found a dodgy way of listening to Northern Exposure 1 and it's awesome.

I'm trying to get one off eBay now.

OK.

Can I exaggerate the word "trying"

I'd love to have this to play on my Hi-Fi, or in lossless, but I'm not paying the going rate on eBay.

The Verve - Urban Hymns? Anyone agree/disagree?

Funny you mention that I literally just bought a copy off eBay, as in 2 hours ago.
