Timeless classics

I always have a special yearning to play morrowind every couple of months. :p

The graphics really get to me since Oblivion was released. Oblivions combat system was a huge improvement and even if the Story and side quests aren't as numerous or in-depth i prefer it.

Indeed oblivion does certainly have a superior graphics engine and combat system but the lore, depth, setting and characters alone in Morrowind provide enough entertainment for me to keep going back to it. Plus it is so vast but doesn't feel empty.

Problem with oblivion was it was huge it felt slightly empty to me and fast travel I don't like but will use. As it is there. Hypocrite I suppose? :p

uhh i still play age of empires 2 online haha, dont think my graphics card is too impress to be honest haha

out of all the usual suspects mentioned, id say baldurs gate 2 and planescape torment are my 'timeless classics'

edit - MORROWIND

I didn't think Morrowind was quite old enough to be a classic. It's certainly on my list if it is.

... And sure the default graphics look outdated, but now with Dx9 support thanks to MGE it can, and in some cases does, make Oblivion look the ugly sibling...

eg:
Grass. Animated
Water, see Images
etc.
:D

Well there are always mods i suppose if you want extra enemies. The 1 advantage of both games really, excessive modability. Unfortunately i could never the Qarls Texture Pack thing for Oblivion to work, nor the Morrowind version. The Lore of Morrowind was a hell of a lot better no doubt about that, but the combat is such a huge part of the game, it always felt so... clunky. It just never felt even slightly realistic what with the constant missing.

Red Alert. I've played that game so many times since it was released and loved it EVERY single time, it's just too much fun. :p

a few i get cravings for periodically:

Dungeon Keeper (inc 'deeper dungeons)
Theme hospital.
Lemmings!
Red alert (original and 2)

Higher agility with skill helps with the missing, but at the beginning it's terrible! I agree. There were a lot of cities, towns and shrines and ruins in morrowind. Which were quite small to medium but in oblivion having the ayleid places they were huge and became quite slow going. I do agree mostly, I'm just a morrowind fanboy. :)

Rollercoaster Tycoon
C&C original and tiberian sun
Monky Island
FF7

And going back a little further

Kings quest 1, 2 and 3 (wasnt a fan of the others)

Edit... just seen a couple of posts and Theme hospital and Dungeon keeper also get a vote :D
