Inserts will not stop tinnitus. If you have it then you will have to find a way to live with it. I have. I have had it for nearly 30 years. I easily live with it now. Knowing there is no cure i decided to live with it!

I'm wearing them to prevent my right ear getting worse and preventing all together in my left as that one is fine. My right is blocked due to ear wax which seems to have made it worse though.

It's about damage limitation though, not stopping tinnitus.

Well my left ear is fine and i intend to keep it that way so i will wear plugs...

You're not reading or listening. People are talking about ear inserts for when they are working in loud places(machinery) or when at music gigs, they are not wearing them to stop the tinnitus.
What you're essentially saying is 'you have tinnitus, so don't bother wearing ear inserts to gigs because you have tinnitus anyway'

I've had it for ages also, it doesn't mean I'm going to stick my ear drum next to a speaker at 80db odd

Been a tinnitus sufferer for 30 years, Doctor told me that some people, like me, are more prone to get tinnitus than others whatever they do!!!

Cant get any worse for me!! I can hear it above most noises!!
I was never one to use headphones or listen to loud music! It just happened!!

Ruddy left ear for me is so loud with the tinnitus issue. Been putting drops in as i know i have a skip full of wax in there!! Problem with me is that i always stuff cotton buds in there. Not a good idea i know.
And guys, sorry about other posts. I understand about the inserts now. I obviously couldnt have had my glasses on when i read and typed above posts!

I've had tinnitus since March 2014, it just came on one night when putting my head down to sleep, and has been there ever since. It's louder in my right ear but thankfully not so bad that it bothers me much throughout the day. It's mainly at night when I'm trying to sleep that I hear it, but I've taken to going to sleep with music playing now so I have something else to concentrate on. I feel resigned to the fact this is permanant now, but I do secretly hope that like others in here, it just randomly stops one day. I miss the basic pleasure of just sitting in pure silence.
