£21 = 3 gig peak

£25 = 30 gig peak

Versus Freedom2Surf who I am currently with:-

£15 = 5 gig peak

£20 = 20 gig peak

£24 = 50 gig peak

(and no limits off peak)

Just read this morning that Tiscalli are buying Pipex out
Will i be able to leave?
Or will i have to stick with what i can only call a pile of crap
In the last few weeks,i`ve had connection speeds going down from 7mb to 4.9,Pipex fup was told to me by one of their rude customer service people that i could download between midnight and 8am with no restrictions, some nights or early mornings should i say the bandwith, throttling lift has not been lifted to at least 2am.
When i contacted customer services by e-mail,they just ignore my e-mails
If i can`t leave,my contract will be up in October,so i`ll have to wait.
Sorry for all the moaning but they have really done my head in.
Steve

No instant 'get out of jail free' card sadly.

The whole Pipex Internet Ltd. company is being sold so there is no contract change that would let you escape.

Watch for any changes after they have been sold but right now the position is that the contracts will remain binding.

Going to be a few weeks before this goes through anyway so not long for you to wait.

I would.

My experience of Tiscali was nothing short of shocking.

Ive never had a problem with them.

Paying for 2mb Unlimited and speedtest I get this.

They dont make much on those. Costs me £18.80 p/m for the 30 gig package, thats a reseller price.

UKFSN are a little more competitive: http://www.ukfsn.org/home/internet/adsl/maxallowance.html

Use the Enta network so shouldn't see any difference in service etc.
What I don't get about Entanet resellers is why there is such a gulf in usage allowance between the first and second options, yet only £3.49 price difference. 33 GB for £16.50 versus 333 GB for £19.99?

I don't need anywhere near 333 GB, but 33GB is really tight. Why can't they make it 3 GB peak / 50 off peak for example? Even 40 would be better. It's strange.

It is just market segmentation.

They only want to offer a really low price to those who hardly use the allowance at all.

The cost of the 30/300 package doesn't really cover that allowance, if they introduced another segment below that then they would have to put the price for 30/300 up considerably which would make it look unattractive.

Better for them to have a lot of people on 30/300 that don't come close to using that much than to have a lot of those people paying less for a lower allowance.

I see that Entanet resellers all have a nasty clause whereby if you exceed your usage allowance, you have to pay a fee of £5+VAT and also pay the difference between your package and the next one up.

I don't see it as 'nasty', you get plenty of warning about your usage and you have several ways to monitor your usage during the month so there is no excuse for going over the limit really.

Just pick the right package and it isn't a problem, for most people that is probably the 30/300 option.

^i've been looking at entanet myself and you can set it up so you get email notifications every day to track usage. you can't say fairer than that. :)

Why the punitive charge? Freedom2Surf charge 99p per extra 1GB I believe. They also don't rigorously enforce their caps as I have gone slightly over before with no penalty.

Enta net resellers will be charged if you use more than your quota.

My brother went over by 4 gig peak last month and I had a £13 pound charge from enta :(.
