“maybe yes, but it must be better than average to attract that many gamers.. and still growing ”
I don’t think you understood my point. The things that attract the most people are not usually better then average but in fact mostly worse then average due to being simplified and/or dumbed down for the mass’s.

I don’t mean to say it’s a poor game only that its more a stepping stone into the better games. Wow is not the type of game you play year in year out. Its got a high turn over rate of users.

Yes, normally I would agree with that theory. But I've tried pretty much everything worth trying since Legend of Mir, that was about 5 years ago, and this is one of the best I've played. I believe Guild Wars, EVE, and DaoC were good too, before you announce me as one of the 'simplified' users.

pfft dont know why everyone loves wow so much. it seems far to easy and childish. i find lineage 2 to but much better 1500+ players at a castle siege beats wow measly pvp.

my first and last troll like post :)

meh, i don't like it. i don't like the genre and i'm not interested in it. that said, each to their own you guys like it, go ahead and play it! gaming is just a valid leisure activity as going to the pub with your mates, variety is the spice of life and just as i'm not about to go and sit in the pub every night i'm not about to sit on my pc all night at home.

gaming is another thing i do - i just don't play WoW :D

oh, and i'm 28 and will likely game until my fingers fall off.

hardly trolling!
its people who say that WOW players are "stupid" or "lame" etc that are trolling.
I too don't like WOW, I play eve and like that when I die THERE IS SOME LOSS!
but that doesn't make WOW a waste of time!

Tell that to a lvl60 raiding warrior. :p

yeah but I can lose so much in just a few seconds. WOW lets you recover everything with just a repair bill.

wow is so dumbed down it's stupid, there is no risk in playing it really which i have always felt is just to widen the audience

although i do play the game a substancial amount of the time i have free, but the feeling which my guild and myself had from beating nefarian today was totaly worth it :)

it takes a particular mind set (an addictive one) to get into wow and a good guild (or friends playing it)

I could make a half-page post as to why I don't like WOW.
I could then fill the other half-page with various reasons why WOW appeals to so many - the basics being it's easy to progress and there is no risk in the game.
Simplified? That would certainly be one way of describing it and not really that far off the mark.

People don't want to work for things in games these days.
It used to be the case where you would play your mindless "offline" games for a quick fix but could rely on a good MMORPG for those long term goals.
Unfortunately people want everything easy and alas WOW as an MMORPG provided that.

Sooo... spending almost half a year to devise tactics on each boss and trash mob area in a new instance, and then perfecting your performance on those boss encounters, to one day finally hope to complete it, isn't hard work?

Grinding hour upon hour for days, to get materials to make potions, resist gear, and other consumables needed for the hardest instances, isn't working for something?

Whatever you say....

If you ever played WoW, you almost certainly never played it at end-game in a raiding guild.

Didn't some guild/clan, whatever I don't play the game, get some new extremely hard boss down to 1% about 2 weeks after it was released? Not sure on the time frame but I know people were complaining about it.

now if you did see any REAL consequences you wouldnt see many endgame warriors

Now correct me if I am wrong as I only played the start of Wow. But resource gathering is simple and none challenging from what I sew. Resource gathering is something you do solo isn’t it?

Take an Eve mining operation; you get you scout looking for good belts then the mining barges warp in with the escorts. The barges start mining while the escorts go on patrol; now your other friend(s) get in industrial ships to ship the ore from the barges to the star base perhaps with escorts as well depending on the location. While another pilot is running a mining director based Command Ship telling everyone what to do and providing boosts.

That’s how you resource gathering should be in my mind. Something a group of friends do with multiply roles for each player. As far as I could tell Wow resource gathering was solo without any group work or massive operations.

No one ever said its not hard work just that its easy and simple compared to other online only games. If that’s what you prefer then good for you. I might sya its simple but that doesnt mean its wrong to like it.

Compare a Wow NPC boss to say storming a castle with 1000 players defending it who will respond differently each time unlike 1000npc defending. Or trying to storm an alliance with spaceships and an outpost (star base) with multiply defence platforms who are also trying to come up with tactics and counter tactics against your alliance. Then you can see how simple wow is.

NPC Boss mobs are easy and boring after awhile as it’s the same thing over and over, as they don’t change. It’s more fun when you have empires of players fighting each other with boss like situations where the boss is a player.

o right means that it must be good then? i think not

/falls to sleep listening to people saying how good WoW is.

the videos included were enough to make me turn them off within the 1st minute of watching them. its a good thing i hate it so much or i would end up as sad as all those who like it, and think that staying in and playing a meaningless computer game for serveral hours is better then going out with mate and having a good time. i think some people have something wrong in the head.

this then makes me revert back to the fact of who cares if you have a level 60 e-peen. no-one.

GET A LIFE!!

People like you make me laugh. MAYBE they want to play wow? Maybe they don't like being a drunken mess and going to the same pub/town every night. Maybe they don't like spending £20 + every night out. Maybe you should stfu and let people do what they want. They HAVE a life and they don't tell you how much of an idiot you are for spending so much getting lashed every week. They enjoy it so why should they listen to someone like you?

Oh and THEY ARE HAVING A GOOD TIME PEEN.

Oh it's nice to know you're still a silly little boy Pulse. Why would anyone care if i have a 60, hell i have two but what's your point? You don't play wow NOT to get to 60, that would be kinda stupid, no?

To all those who keep saying WoW is easy and has no risks:

It's a game, it's supposed to be fun!!!

Just because something isn't the gaming equivalent of sticking needles in your eyes, doesn't mean it isn't good.

I'm not actually playing atm either as i'm sick to death of 20/40 man raiding and hate grinding. I'm waiting for TBC to arrive for some actual new content to play.

Its illegal for children to be sold alcohol and turned into a drunken mess.

By the way the thread is titled 'to all who don't like WOW' so its going to attract all those who don't like the game.

Does that stop me posting my thoughts? I'm sick of idiots telling people who love wow to get a social life, when they are doing something they want and enjoy. So er.......

Does that stop them going out? Oh and not everyone in this thread is a "child".

Well some of the attacks at peoples opinions seem to come across as something a child would say or a child who was shot within a computer game would say.

I don't like WoW and I was willing to allow the thread OP to convert me, however it hasn't and the atmosphere from some of the games supporters here doesn't do much to improve that opinion either.

The game is fine..it's the community that spoil it.

And the community we have in WoW is a direct result of it being a very easy game to get into,a very easy game to get to level 60 in and a very easy game to PvP in.

As you may have guessed I like the game but don't like the kiddies that seem to populate all servers.
