Not a cuisine thread hence GD as I suspect we all eat toast.

My wife lets her toast cool down before eating or buttering it. I think this is wrong and unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated.

So the question is simple: toast: hot or cold?

Cheers :D

Hot but if it goes cold I'll still eat it.

There was a polish guy at work who buttered the bread and then put it in the toaster.

hot, like as soon as it's out of the toaster it's a race against the clock to get the butter down so it can melt.

good proper butter is definately the superior flavour but in winter you can't get that stuff to spread without mauling the bread which is somewhat counter productive.

butter + jam or marmalade when it's hot so it all melts but still nice to eat if left until it's stone cold

guy at work used to bring in (cold) toast he'd already buttered at the house...

Two slices for breakfast -in toaster then when ejected staight on plate and loads of soft butter right up to edges and corners then big blob of Marmite - both cut in half and stacked to keep them warm and butter just sogs into the toasty bread.
Almost a banjo sarny.

If for some reason I don't want the butter to melt then I don't toast my bread. I'll eat cold toast but there's nothing better than a thick warm doorstop slathered with salty melting butter

I actually quite like toast that’s been left in foil for a while and it’s gone cold and a bit chewy.

I accept I’m weird.
