Today I recieved some alloy wheels....

im pretty sure the car will look slightly awful on massive wheels and standard suspension.

and is it just me, or do compact disc sized brakes look silly behind enormous wheels too?

they will fit fine.. a mate of mine has audi rs6 19" alloys on his bora and he lowered it this week 50mm with no archwork at all.. no rubbing so far,

They will probably be an 8" rim so 225 will fit fine.

I used to have 225's on my 18" Focus RS wheels (8" Rim) and I could have stretched 215 over them, although would have had less side wall protection from the tyre.

Well, I fitted the wheels this morning and here are the photos...

Well I dont think it looks awful like some of you suggested it might, but the looks would definately benift from some lowering, Ive looked around and got a rough idea of the cost of buying some new coilovers that will lower the car around 50mm, but I can quite happily live with the way it looks for now.

Also on the list is to get the front of the bonnet sorted out, where the half-moon shaped hole is where the badge used to be, want that all smoothed over nicely.

It looks absolutely ridiculous I'm afraid :(

The Bora is a nice car, and some subtle styling really sets it off. Huge, enormous cheap ebay multispokes do not, it just looks complety out of place on an otherwise totally standard car. The VAG group have THE best range of OEM fit alloys out there, a set of 17 or 18 inch Audi wheels would have really worked well.

As it is, it looks not unlike the end result you'd expect when Kevin takes his Mums car to Halfords :(

Sell them, get some nice VAG wheels :)

Agree. Car looks turd, IMO. Get some nice BBS RX's in 17's, then use Eibach springs on OEM dampers for the drop. :)

the front wheel arch gap aint too bad, but the rear is bad.

as for cost of lowering, it can cost you anything you like. whats your budget?

i dont get what youve done to the grill tho? can you get another badge?

you need a pic of the brake discs looking like polo mints behind the spokes :D

what size brakes do the boras have anyway?

It won't be a 3" increase though will it.

The 16s will have had a much larger profile tyre on than the 19s, so will even out.

The 16's will probably have a 55mm wall (205/55/R16 being quite standard), the 19's have a 35mm wall, so 20mm difference which isn't even an inch, so there's at least 2" difference in total diameterwhich again will surely play a big part in acceleration on the car.

As for how it looks gr1mey, i think it looks like a bigfoot style car :( Definitely needs lowering.

personally i dont think they look that bad

Would definitely benefit from some lowering, the jpeg compression is so bad that I can't see whether the wheels look good or bad tbh. A side on shot would be better too, easier to chop too to show it lowered :)

you mean like something out of this selection

http://www.topgear.co.uk/acatalog/18__Audi___VW_Replica_Alloy_Wheels_&_tyres.html

quite like "RA04" style ones, but even if I went with these in 17's I'd still need to have the car lowered for it to look right?

The only other ones I like are the R32esque ones which are pretty much whats on there now...

I dont know anything about suspension, so to have it lowered I just need to buy new springs and the dampers that are on there would be ok? Also, how big a job is it?

Yup, some of those are awesome. Those RS6's, for example, are one of the best wheel style ever. Nearly enough to make me want an Audi just so I can have them :D
