Like a Duck on a pond, this one reflects perfectly

"Were you around in those days?"
I do vaguely remember the nuke and having to sign-up again. Being so keen to learn I re-registered as soon as I could (obviously wasn't smashing my F5 key hard enough, missed that legendary 17th October badge!)

The forums were a massive help back then. I was researching my first self built system. It was the era of AMD getting close to the magic 1GHz barrier. There were members of the forum with Athlon 850s that hit 1000mhz, bought from Overclockers, and they shared their experience with the community. By the time I actually built my system, the 1Ghz Athlon was available but that didn't stop me pushing it further. I'm sure you could take this basic story and copy paste any CPU model in there to match most member's experience.

Joined before the nuke after purchasing a gfx card for a mates pc (Hercules 3d Prophet I think), I remember the guns as avatars, not a lot else. Can't remember what username though, possibly because I'd been abduckted at some point.

I'll get me coat.

I'll go with my join date, 04-05-2009 (04 + 05 = 09, nice)

Nice to see that the forums don't appear to be encountering any mallardies these days. A great community of people, always willing to help out and provide inspiration.

18-10-2012 because by chance that was my join date and is the 10th anniversary of the Nuke then!

What a massive change just in my time here. Going back that far ago and what must have been.

Frond memories of the Seti team Stomping various other groups, the OCUK Stompmonster (IIRC declared a fire hazard by the spoilsports at the insurance company, I mean it was only a stack of about 20 overclocked bare computers left running 24/7), the fun and games as the forum was bought back online and it seemed like there was weeks of tweaking to get it "right".
I sometimes wonder what happened to a number of the "old faces", so it's always nice to see someone posting that I've not seen for a while.
Remember MoS :D?

I don't think we ever found out who those guys really were but their processing power was insane! Made the Stompmonster look like a 386!

I didn't until you just mentioned them. Wow, yes. I often wondered if there was some kind of exploit going on there that we weren't aware of.

I don't think I ever admitted this before but at the peak, I had seti running on a small server farm for quite a while until someone in the office noticed that the fans were consistently ramped up so I gradually removed the clients over a few weeks.
