I missed the nuke by a few years. Crazy how time flies though. I signed up for PC and overlooking advice, but haven't been in that part of the forum for 10+ years now I imagine. Now I just use the forums to get life advice from GD. Got to make sure I keep up with the Jones' with my corner sofa, sex pond and gucci belt.

I remember being a young lad on these here forums back when I joined in 2007, and many many people referencing the big nuke in their posts to validate their low post count.
Also remember it being a much friendlier place, but there were always a load of quacks around pretending to possess skills or achievements that were so outlandish that they could never be true.
Seems to be a lot less legendary threads these days such as the golden days from Sam83UK or GTA!

Q: why are ducks always online?
A: because they have webbed feet!
Wasn't around at the time of the big nuke, but it's interesting to me as one of those things that's mentioned now and then like some piece of forum folklore.

I was 16 in 2002 - feels like such a long time ago. Great memories of those days. I joined pre nuke but for some reason it took me a couple of weeks to sign up again after. Who knows what I was doing that could have been more important! Life has changed beyond recognition, and not all for the better. I genuinely miss those early 2000’s, the internet and pc gaming/culture was better back then, more fun, more relaxed. The internet still felt like ‘our’ space, it hadn’t yet taken over by everyone else. Not the same anymore. Oh and you could buy a high end GPU for a few hundred quid…!

Unfortunately I was too busy playing RuneScape to sign up between 2002 and 2007*.
*I did spend quite a few years before signing up as a lurker - I was a very poor teenager back then and the main motivation for the signup was free shipping for my first pc build!
