Today's mass shooting in the US

If there were nearly 20 school shootings caused by shotguns in this country since the start of the year then you can bet your ass that ownership would be made much harder (its not that hard to get a shotgun license at the moment here)
Yes banning guns in a country with so many is going to cause problems but then allowing a country with significant amounts of idiots, mentally ill or just downright trigger happy morons access to so many easy to get weapons has done so much good so far hasnt it?

USA, very very broken ... prob beyond help now.

Gang violence in the big cities has a lot to do with a lot of gun deaths, good place to start there is getting the gangs/drugs off the streets

There already are strict background checks for buying a gun, but you can't stop criminals from breaking the law and obtaining one illegally in a country that has millions of them

Problem is there is a lot of bureaucracy over what appears on a check and no need for some things to be declared as per one of the previous incidents where he had a military record that should have stopped him buying guns but due to some silly complications it wouldn't appear on a normal background check for buying guns.

Make them have to be bright, hot pink or fluorescent colours. Then make them have flashing LED's too. And also make a beeping noise whenever loaded.

I'm pretty pro-gun but there is very little reason (aside from some who live in areas with dangerous wild animals, etc.) for most people to own weapons that are anything other than straight pull/bolt action let alone semi-automatic or automatic. Which makes a big difference in a shooting incident as it dramatically reduces how many rounds you can get out before people start reacting, etc.

Let the US citizens keep their guns, you'll never be able to take them away from them.

However, stop the sale of ammo and ammo making materials. At least the number of shootings will eventually decrease and the cost of bullets will so expensive they'll resort to throwing GPUs at each other instead.

Only in America can an amendment not be amended.

The amount of ammo out there in the US is ridiculous (probably close to 100 billion rounds in civilian storage) - there are many who've stockpiled crazy amounts in case of changes in the law, etc. in regard to the supply of ammo.

Good point. Ban ammo and that would create another problem with crime, but hopefully keep it away from the 'casual' high school shooter.

because Obama was going to take away their guns and Ammunition! And he didn't!

Couple of recordings out there from at the time of the shooting inside classrooms - perpetrator was definitely going at it - can't imaging there won't be fatalities.

(Nothing gory in the videos just sounds of gunshots but the sites are a bit dodgy).

there's no quick fix for americas gun problem, but there's plenty of slow burning options that will be effective.

the problem isn't what you can or can't legally own, the problem is how easy it is to obtain for the average citizen, and how culturally acceptable it is.

i mean they did a pretty decent job of cutting back on machine guns, now prices are so high due to the finite pool of guns that only really rich or really dedicated people buy them. nothing stopping them doing the same thing to semi-autos and letting attrition take care of the problem.

He tried his best but had no backing from the houses of government in America, the NRA has too much pull over there (and too many in its pocket) to get anything changed.

No point even talking about it for the next 3 years, if Obama couldn't get anything done then you've got no hope with the Donald especially as gun toting hicks are his core fanbase!

Don't think there's any level of gun atrocity over there now which would make them wake up and take notice to be honest.

Yeah - one of the gun YouTube channels I follow were talking about it - one of the regulars on the channel had bought some 10s of thousands of rounds due to the whole thing about Obama.

On another note some saying this was a targetted shooting i.e. at specific staff rather than just an indiscriminate spree so maybe fatalities will be low hopefully (though none would be better) remains to be seen.

No doubt over the next few days whilst the bodies are still warm, crocodile-teared news reporters, late night talk show hosts and the Democrats will politicize this tragedy. They'll read off their cue cards decrying gun violence and pretend that gun shootings only occurred after Jan 20th 2017 and blame Trump; whilst turning a blind eye to murders that occur all over the country every day throughout their districts.

CNN reporting 16 fatalities and the weapon used was an AR-15.

Ahh the AR, a right of passage for gun loving Yanks of all ages.
Now why does an 18year old need an AR? ohh wait its to keep his family safe, protect his rights, be ready for SHTF time... ect ect ect..

Complete and utter nutters..
