Also the whole thing about it being quite simple to get away from a car in many instances, and that the car isn't a threat to people who can stay more than a few inches away from it, say by getting behind a wall, or going into a building.
Guns being treated like cars would be a massive improvement on gun safety in America, given that some of the Republican politicians are trying to pass laws to allow anyone including criminals to just buy them retail and open carry by removing any requirement for any checks on the purchases.
Include a provision in the insurance for the gun that makes policy cover any and all medical or injury/death related costs and at least it'd remove the perverse thing where at the moment you can go bankrupt from being injured by some idiot with a gun.
They have just passed laws in some states that mean anyone can buy a gun and unless the shop knows the person is a felon there is nothing to stop them selling that person a gun. Its madness.
