More Great British incompetence.....

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2...als-forces-travellers-to-cancel-easter-breaks

I've got my first trip abroad planned for second week of June.....nearly 3 months I thought, no problem getting mine renewed, after all it only takes a few weeks, tops.

Now looks like I'll be lucky to get it back in time.

Reminder to anyone that needs theirs doing to do it ASAP, and would be good to hear of people getting theirs in less than 10 weeks....

My mum's just recently in the last week or so had her renewal back - that took two weeks.

It's a standard piece from the guardian though. Find a dozen or so people who have encountered issues with the renewal process and make out that the whole passport service has collapsed. I'm sure you'll find just as many people whose passports have turned up in 2-3 weeks as those that haven't.

I hope so, but the passport office advising people to allow 10 weeks isn't filling me with confidence....

When I renewed mine last year, the passport office were saying to allow 10-12 weeks. It took less than a fortnight.

That’s standard Guardian click bait.

My brother sent off the renewal for his 2 kids the last week of Jan, 1 arrived within 3 weeks the second still hasn’t arrived.
The passport office do not know when the remaining one will be processed.

So I’d say it’s not a click bait article.

My renewal to just over a week in Feb, was more of a faff getting a photo that the website said was good than anything else, wouldn't be like the press to whip up a frenzy petrol crisis anyone?

Hmmm. Myself, partner and teenager have just sent off for our renewals but my boys have never had a passport.

No holiday planned but hoping to go after the teenagers GCSEs and before actual school holidays, thought we were being proactive getting it done in good time so we could book a cheap naff holiday. Hopefully just a bit of selective hot air made into a story but worried the boys will take forever with them being their first.

did my renewal the other month and it got processed silly quick
