Tom Hardy to Star in 'Venom'

This looks pretty good, although Hardy's civilian character seems a bit soft.

Quite like the superhero movies that keep things small and personal. Can never bring myself to sit down and actually watch any of the world-saving ones - just can't get excited for it.

Hardy is weird. You've got films where he's just brilliant, and other where he just mumbles and looks confused the whole time. This seems to be the latter based on the trailer.

Hardy has said many times that he just does whatever script he likes the look of. He is more in it for the experience rather than trying to make it in Hollywood.

Easy to say when you've made it in hollywood :D

Watched the trailer again, still struggle to understand him as Venom :(

There saying they went back to a hard PG rating since its venom is successful they plan to bring him face to face with spiderman.

So all those rumors and is it set in the same spidey universe, its possible the deal with marvel/disney its still all connected. Sable and black cat get their own
movies too, sony also got kraven and morbius the living vampire in the works too.

Still unsure how successful sonys 'avenger' universe of films could be since those characters really do need spiderman to flow with but lets see I hope they are
successful.

Damn shame :( After seeing the trailer, I had high hopes! But when I heard about Tom Hardy moaning publicly about all the best scenes being cut, I started to get a bit worried. But it seems that the critics are panning it :(

40 minutes cut and not going for the R rating? No wonder it's not "evil Spiderman" like it should have been. Did they learn nothing from Deadpool and Logan?

Hardy's comments plus the PG rating and the fact that reviews are out so close to the release date were all big red flags for me. Shame, it could have been great. I'll hold off and go and see First Man instead when it comes out next week.

I didn't have high hopes since I head about the cuts to achieve the lower rating but hoped to be proved wrong :(

Reading "Maximum Carnage" in the pages of Spider-Man during my teens is among some of my fondest comic memories.
