Tommy Robinson quits the EDL

I never claimed you would - I claimed you'd hear football chants at EDL marches - there are a fair few videos on youtube...

The idea that the original EDL members and a large chunk of the membership are drawn from football supporters and hooligans is the claim. It doesn't imply that football fans in general are EDL supporters...

I wasn't arguing that point either, the point I was arguing was that numbers would be low because of the football season.

That's demonstrably not the case, given that the EDL has been running for longer than just this summer.

Tommy Robinson is just trying to avoid the (deserved) vitriol that he is receiving. He has facilitated the far right for too long.

Does this mean that everyone within the muslim community who say they are against Islamist groups, will support such a move, or is it business as usual?

Business as usual.

There were quite a few females at the last march near Tower Hill as it was under my building and I had the joy of watching them being kettled up to Aldgate station and back.

Thing with the EDL is that their ideas are actually true to a certain extent, but the way they go about their business is just moronic, and nobody will listen like that.

Their ideas are true?

Can I take this to mean that they are a National Front, Neo Nazi, inherently racist and oppressive group of individuals?

It's not the way they go about their business that is wrong, it is their whole ethos.

Tommy was a good man who fought for what he believed in, I think he probably realises with the likes of UKIP on the up, his time would be best spent on supporting a party who can really make a difference.

Good luck Tommy.

Why is being against Islamic extremism wrong? Who has killed more people in the last few years in this country - Islamic extremists or EDL members?

He certainly fought for what he believed in. Oppression and racism.

It's not being against Islamic Extremism that is wrong. Any extremism that impinges upon the civil liberties of others should be stamped out wherever it is seen (and this includes right wing fanatics such as the BNP, EDL and the NF).

Don't freedom of speech and the right to protest fall under civil liberties?

Tommy always made it clear he hated extremism, Islam is the oppressor, Tommy wasn't a racist.

The fundamental problem with Tommy Robinson is that he's working class and has made a political impact. People in this country don't like it when people get ideas above their station. Worse still, he's white working class. In Britain we're prepared to tolerate a little bit of politics from ethnic working class people on the grounds of diversity and multi-culturalism but white working class people should leave the politics to those nice Messrs Farage and Bloom.

Personally, I think good on him for leaving. The perception of this action to a lot of people is that blind hate for all muslims is not a way to co-exist.

On the football front - talk about stigma or what....
