Too many F1 threads

I knew this forum would end up being nothing more than gay F1 chat... and very little other motorsports involved.

OcUK in shock result shocker.
Popularity dear boy, just that.

But we don't need to do that here because the motorsport forum on its own is barely busy enough to merit its existance at all, nevermind another sub sub forum. You'd end up with a dead sub forum with threads from over a month ago on the front page, it's pointless and unnecessary. I'm not sure why you're finding this so hard to grasp.

Some people will fight to the end for the opinion to be accept as fact...

For me I like all motorsports, therefore I would find it incredibily annoying to click on each 'sub-forum' for threads on each specific motorsport, I knew the first time I saw the motorsport sub-forum that it would be more F1 than anything else, simply because more people like it here and all over the world. if i don't want to read about F1 then I won't click on the thread, simple really.

As somebody else said let's have a BMW sub-forum for 'fox's' BMW love, I too find it annoying in motors where every tenth thread is a BMW masturbation fest, but I don't click on it.:D:;)

Probably because you're an F1 fan?

It doesn't have to be a sub-sub-forum. You could have Motors/F1. And Motors/Motorsports could be used for all the other ones.
And if you're not a n F1 'fan' then why click on the threads, why not just subscribe to the threads you are interested in?

Alos I'll point out that I'm sure if spie gets to annoyed with the bickering he could very easily shut this down and merge back in to motors where we'd all have to trawl through thousands of BMW/Ford love threads....;)

Why is that necessary though? This is the question you struggle to answer with any logic, there is just no need to do that. Other motorsports are not getting drowned out and shunted off the front page because of F1.

Why create an extraneous half dead sub forum when this one accomodates the threads perfectly well?

It isn't necessary. It would make it easier for fans of other motorsports to see their threads.

What does it matter to you how old the threads are? It would be no extra hastle for you to click F1 instead of Motorsports.

It doesn't need making easier though, it is perfectly easy now. If threads aren't being posted in it isn't because people are finding it hard to see the threads it's because people just don't have anything to post in them. Putting them all in a different sub forum won't change that at all.

I'm not complaining about whats in the threads because i don't click on them. And i don't think there should be a sub-forum for each individual sport. I'm just saying that the overwhelming majority of threads in here are F1 threads, so it would make life easier on everyone if they had their own place to go.

As said, there are week old threads on page 1. If you have not had traffic to a thread in a week, then this forum might not be the best place to be posting about it!

I'm more concerned about when all the other motorsports seasons start and they are getting pushed out because people are posting about what colour underpants are banned from F1 this year.

Except as already pointed out to you numerous times, this isn't happening despite the 'launch' season being easily the busiest period of the F1 calender in terms of different discussion topics. Even considering this, no other motorsports are getting pushed out at all.

Come start of the racing, F1 will be confined to fortnightly race threads and a few extra running topics for the off track politics and little more.

You're inventing a problem where there isn't one, nor is there likely to be.

Even if this was to be the case.. Would it really take you all that long to search for the other thread? This section is tiny and isn't likely to get any bigger.

Well no one is stopping you posting about other stuff, it's not like F1 is swamping the front page and pushing other topics to the second page before they've even had a chance to be seen

No I know, I can't complain that hard as i'm not much of a thread starter but it would be nice to so other sport covered.

I will watch it if I catch it on, anything that makes noise and moves, but I haven't been gripped by F1 thats all.

There are quite a few threads due to the new season starting shortly, but once underway there will be just one thread per race and the odd few depending on what comes up.

I find it odd that people complain about the lack of other threads, but won't make threads about what they want to see / talk about themselves  I don't see how you can complain really.

Indeed. There'll be the race thread, and the thread for the inevitable wrangling over an insane stewards decision :)

Maybe there is a reason for that? The vast majority of people that come in here are F1 fans. If its such a problem ie the lack of other motorsport covered, where are all the other forum members complaining about it?

i-bert deserves a bert stare:

Exactly. It's the most popular form of motorsport in the world, undoubtedly. I follow BTCC, MotoGP, IndyCar Series, WRC amongst others, and I'm sure quite a few people here don't solely watch F1. However, in the off-season, there's more focus in the news on F1 than other forms of motorsport. Once the season's underway, you'll see them in here, I'm sure.
