Quick question guys how long does toothpaste last when being used as a thermal compound? Just had to use it on my Ivy i5 after I took the stock heat sink off and forget to buy any paste.

I have ordered some now but would like to know if it will last me a few days?

not too long as it will dry out.

be careful as well as god knows how conductive tooth paste actualy is.

Like 12-24 hours before drying out and turning to dust!

I was planning on replacing it every 6 hours. Would I better off with no thermal material at all though then?

i wouldnt even think of using no thermal paste or toothpaste,just be patient and buy some propper stuff,plenty shops still open to go grab an emergency tube of it!!

I would probably just leave the PC turned off until you get some paste.

Surely there must be a local PC shop just to buy some cheap thermal compound or have any of your m8's got some you can use, just for now?

Its looking ok...
Im replacing it every 3 hours now and a few interesting results point that as long as it doesnt turn to powder it works ok.

Albiet smelling like minty fresh

Well I just had a rummage through my 20+ different thermal paste tubes and pulled out a semi-used IC diamond 7 carat tube.

Where I live there really arent any. A few ones for business but no shops. Theres a gun shop but what would that do...

Also since its sunday tomorrow any shops will be closed.

Have you considered applying toothpaste to teeth (a much better use for according to all benchmarks)
