Toothpaste.

On the subject of alternative thermal paste, how well do you think a mixture of thermite and extra-virgin olive oil would work? If you think about it, it's got lots of tiny metal particulates in it, improving heat transfer, is non-water based and if you get the proportions right, not too runny, anyone fancy testing it?

What made you think of using toothpaste? Seriously how did you make the mental leap it could be used as thermal compound?

I'm sure I read somewhere you can use ketchup (yes ketchup) as thermal compound. Maybe try using ketchup?

*I accept no responsibility for any damage to your system from ketchup covered cpu catching fire*

Where I live there really arent any. A few ones for business but no shops. Theres a gun shop but what would that do...

Also since its sunday tomorrow any shops will be closed.

you use thermal paste for scope and things on guns they most likely will have some in. It won't be ur pc brand but its still good.

Where do u live that shops don't open on sundays?

Bacon, have you still got the stock cooler that the CPU came with?

If so why not just use that, it has thermal paste on it and maybe a bit safer than using 'household alternatives'.

Lol, this thread rules :D

One quick bit of advice though for anyone caught in this situation, copper brake grease (as in the stuff you buy at Halfords to stop the brakes squeaking) its the type of thing many of us (or our dads) will have lying around in our tool boxes, works flawlessly as thermal compound. I have some in an old E8400 machine that's been happily working for years, and the stuff was actually tested by some enthusiasts years ago and found to out perform the Arctic silver of the day (obviously it does cost a lot more lol).

pea method. I havent checked temps but the cooler isnt running any louder than normal and its usually around 30% speed so...

Also I removed it because there was something attached to the case which i thought was hitting the backplate but it turned out it wasnt after I removed it -.-

Garlic Sauce... go on!! ;)

I don't hold my self responsible for the damage done to the PC, if things turn bad...! lol
