Toothpaste.

I take it you claned both the HSF and cpu before realising?
If your gfx card still had its factory HS mounting, you could prob have scraped off some of the excess and used that fine untill you got some paste to redo both.
 
Hopefulyl stypid can find an old processor and for his next review see just how well colgate does.
I am amazed that toothpaste thermally conducts at all.

I know a lot of people are asking for benchmarks but no way will be testing this with the chance my processor could go! :p

I basically took the HSF off and then went "DOH" as I realised the only paste I have is toothpaste. We don't have any copper grease i think but I can ask ;)

Also Hono no I've been removing it the proper way. Toothbrush and fluorine :D

Historically speaking Toothpaste always beat AS in the tests, however it lasts about as long as a pack of Jaffa cakes in the break room :P

Fancy making a little video or at least a few pictures the next time you replace it?
 
A few pics would be nice.

You have to start trying other alternatives. There must be a DIY household solution that works better.
