I'd class them as one of the same. Albeit Batty the inferior footballer in every departmentNeither would shirk a challenge and if they got hit hard they would hit back hard regardless of the reputation of the player.
It's to do with mentality as well. Batty was more of a Scholes type player (but better). No ego, no chat, just got on with the game.
Keane ruined any shred of credibility he had when he admitted what was widely believed anyway with the Haaland incident. No-one deserves any kind of credit after that.

Big Duncan Ferguson needs to be on that list. I wouldn't have Wise on there either, not for me. I would be tempted to put Wes Brown on there, never seen him shirk a big tackle in my entire life. One of, if not the biggest tackler in the league, they are amazing.

Is this thread out of a fairy tale or summit.
For starters Cantona is one hard ********, Not because he dropped kicked some fan but because he turned over just about every other so called hard man that tried it on with him including Vinny the Hollywood Jones.
Chopper Harriss was a Legend & those that don't know of him should watch a few Chelsea Leeds matches of the early seventys. Those guys kicked the crap out of each other for 90 minutes not for 1 foul & go off injured.
None of your modern day footballers are worthy of even being in this thread let alone on a list of hardmen. There is not one single football team I wouldn't steam into & kick the **** out of on my own.

I didn't say he wasn't hard, just said he has no place on a hard man of football list. Especially if we are looking at the top twenty hardest.
