Top 5 series of all time

1 - Red Dwarf (will never be surpassed it's comedy perfection)
2 - Battlestar Galactica (most recent - just a great sci-fi show)
3 - Arrow / Flash (counting these as one, Arrow is awesome and Flash started very well)
4 - Doctor Who (9th Doctor - Present - I watched this over Xmas and expected to hate it...NOPE!)
5 - Supernatural (another one I didn't think I'd like but really enjoyed it)

Shout out to Firefly - just didn't want to include it being only 1 Season but it's amazing.
Also I'd be tempted to stick Blackadder, Father Ted and Bottom in there but only wanted 1 comedy in my top 5.
There is about 30 other shows I like quite a lot too...lol

You wont go wrong with the wire... I can honestly say i dont think there's a dull moment! Great great great series!

Most of my choices are based on whether the programme required me to watch the next episode immediately...

1) Game of Thrones
2) 24 - we watched the last season in 24 hours :D
3) Dexter
4) Nashville (Guilty pleasure! :D)
5) Suits (so far... we're only 3 episodes in)

The Wire: Watched the first episode and wasn't hooked - didn't care about any of the characters and the story line was a bit flat :/ didn't make me want to watch the next one at all...

You are going to have to re-jig your top 5 when you've watched True Detective. Pound for pound the best episodal TV series I have seen to date. Gained massive respect for Matthew McConaughey off the back of this series.

Most are pretty recent, but I think thats more down to a surge of quality TV willing to invest in arc plotting after Babylon 5 managed it.

1. Game Of Thrones - not perfect, or as good as the books. But Peter Dinklage more than makes up for the flaws. Plus copious boobage never hurt anyone (apart from teenagers with sprained wrists).
2. BSG (Remake) - Usually very good, at its best, sheer brilliance. Let down at the final hurdle by the lack of any coherent cylon 'plan' and dropping any pretense of ambiguity about a supreme being.
3. Ultraviolet - a UK show that sadly lasted one season. A quasi-paramilitary anti-vampire unit of the Inquisition funded by the Vatican, with kill squads using graphite bullets? Yes please! Introduced Idris Elba in full on badass mode, plus Stephen Moyer as a vampire prior to True Blood.
4. Firefly - it died too soon. Movie was a bit underwhelming and the reavers make no sense whatsoever.
5. The Thick of It. - Malcolm Tucker is ******* brilliant.

Breaking Bad, The Wire and The Sopranos just missed the cut.

  1. The Wire
  2. Six Feet Under
  3. Oz
  4. Breaking Bad
  5. ST: TNG

Also The West Wing, Babylon 5 and Treme

(Almost any show from HBO really :))

Borgen

Felt I couldn't include Battlestar Galactica, The Simpsons or Seinfeld because of the inconsistency their later episodes.

1) Red Dwarf (been hooked since 1988 and still love the characters)
2) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (some of the best series writing ever and epic)
3) The X Files (First 5-6 series, it was addictive watching)
4) The Flash (I just like it)
5) Game of Thrones (it holds true to the books)

P.s. got a soft spot for Agent Carter, looking forward to series 2.
