Top Gear Season 14

Probably the silly things like electronically adjustable heated leather seats and DVD sat nav with surround sound! All the fluff you would expect from a Lexus.

Still seems a lot. It's only very maginally lighter than a 300zx a sort-of equivalent from 20 years ago. Only that has a steel body, heavy cast iron block, heavy glass roof, fully loaded interior etc.. Basically car where light weight was not even on the design brief at all.

in my opinion...

Lexus - 10/10 - possibly the best editing i've ever seen on top gear - loved it, loved the car and yes, imo it is worh £340k or whatever it was - purley for exclusivity and innovation, though i couldn't help it had a toyota celica gen 7 style outline, which is by no means a bad thing.

BMW X6 - 10/10 (for footage - not the car), excellent stuff, goes all over for no point other than to show how pointless the X6 is, as mentioned earlier - very tongue in cheek.

So far, this is how all top gears should be.

Seasick Steve - 5/10 - i never really followed this part so i can't really comment.

Insignia VXR - 7.5/10 - i quite like the car, i like James May as a presenter too, he's more intelligent than the other 2, wasn't that bothered about the road signs, but i couldn't help but wonder where it was filmed, i assume somewhere near Sheffield, infact, would it have been Snake Pass?

The arsing about in the studio / the news, same old same old but i laughed (wrongly) when Hammond crashed into the Xmas tree.

Overall - this show - 9.5/10

This series - 7/10

If it weren't for last weeks special and last nights show - the series would have been pretty pants, i'm just glad they saved the best till last.

Oh, and look, i never even mentioned the scripted wor.... oh poo :(

:p

*Personally*, seeing as everyone else is reviewing the show, I thought it was poor.

The Lexus UFO thing was tacky, X6 review funny but lacking, the Insignia wasn't taken 'round the track (can't remember it anyway), Hammond is a bell and well... the awards were a bit dull.

But HEY. The bolivian episode more than made up for it. Would be happy if they ditched these episodes for more of those.

I think it may have been filmed up near Glenfinnan - i think at one point he drove past the Glenfinnan viaduct. Can anyone comfirm?

Where is that, they seemed to be around Leeds /Sheffield / Manchester area quite a bit by the motorway signs. And it could have been Ladybower Resevoir - which is of course along Snake pass IIRC

Could be. I didn't recognise it, someone else did when I was watching. I know the motorway sign wer of that area but doesn't preclude them being in other locations.

Loved the episode

Couldnt help but think that they've turned off everything in the X6 than just stuck it on some loose ground and nailed the throttle to make the point that its not as good as the rangerover

Adjustable height control - not needed to go up a slight grassy slope. Hill descent control - again not needed to go up a grassy hill. Locking differential, again not needed to up a grassy hill iirc ?

I bet the X6 is far better on snow and grass than they made out, but again turned everything off to make the point in an easy to understand way for the viewers.

What riles me though, is that i dont need you to turn the electronic aids off, and nail the throttle on a hill and shout "look wheelspin" to make the point that the X6 wont be as good offroad as the rangerover. But then im not the lowest common denominator in terms of car knowledge that TG now has to cater to...
