It was absolutely stunning!!

Beautiful car. Sounds fantastic too. I found it more desirable than the much more capable F-Type. I reckon it would even more of an event to drive, even if it's not as quick.

Oh I forgot, it's RWD, that means its automatically 'all about drifting' right?

You mean to tell me, you haven't being going around every roundabout sideways?
Whey even bother with a BMW then?

I apologise, it was designed with skinnier wheels to make it more fun in the corners, but my point still stands, it was not designed for out and out acceleration.

That F-type has firmly cemented itself in my lottery win garage. I quite enjoyed this weeks episode. Good mix of cars and James May being out of his depth in the rally cross, he never stood a chance when the other drivers are ex pros and full time race teams.

I thought May did ok at the rally cross, 600BHP on mud with no driver aids can't be easy :p

I really like the look of the new MX5 but it does look more aggressive than the previous models. Not sure if that is a good thing or not but it would be interesting to see one in the flesh.

I don't fully understand rallycross. It's basically a small time grassroots motorsport held at small venues with no following at all, but there is huge money in it? The cars are like WRC standard but with totally bat **** performance, and they are not scared of smashing these big money machines into each other either.

I don't normally knock top gear at all, I accept it for exactly what it is, an entertainment show.

But why oh why does Clarkson keep making these ridiculous comparrisons.
£840k modernised e-type one off vs a £30k ? Toyota
£840k car wins (obviously) andclarkson claims cars in his day were better, so go and get an original e-type then clarkson and compare that, not the one that has had a modern engine and brakes etc put on it.

Last week he said if you are looking to buy a Lexus RCF coupe, consider instead the 6/7 times more expensive LFS.

Then Hammond gets back from driving a lightweight MX-5 and they compare it to a car that costs almost 3 times the price.

No matter how you put it, it is small time and unheard of.

Just because you dont know what it is doesnt mean it is unheard of

The british series was shown on eurosport last year.

edit: and it looks like they will be showing it again this year. Round 1 is on 21/22 March.

Why did Hammond say he went to Humberside to test the mx-5 when it quite clearly......was not Humberside.

I am guessing it was just a joke :p

A couple of series ago, someone complained that they didn't film in realistic UK environments, so the running joke was to introduce each new feature with a humdrum location when they were actually somewhere incredibly exotic and beautiful.

I fell asleep for the May section as the SIARPC was dull, didn't hold my attention at all this week.

Clarkson did warn people prior that it was more car like this week. Not even any interesting cars if I'm honest, I mean how many times do we have to have them going on about the F Type?

Rally cross bit was sadly too short, I Think may did well considering the car, conditions and competition!

Mx5 does nothing for me so found that boring would have rather had the time on rally cross..

SIARPC I thought was alright actually, normally dislike this part.
