Top secret US spy drone captured by Iran

Your implication that it's not ok to run spy missions.

I think he was originally commenting on radiations claim that Iran had no right to shoot down or "steal" the drone, not weather it was ok to send the drone on such a mission.

Ultimately you would be happy with Iran flying drones over the UK, i would not.

just like Iran we would try and shoot them down.

The difference is we have many treaties with Russia and some of them "spying" is written into it as a means of checking each other, are doing what they have agreed.

I seriously can't believe they are programmed to land themselves or fly in circles untill they run out of fuel if the signal is jammed.

They must have forced it down somehow.

What difference does it make how happy we are about it? Are you happy Russia fly planes over the UK?

No of course not, but as mentioned by someone else the UK has treaties with Russia regarding such matters.

Anyhow still don’t see your point, what has sending drones into Iran, spying on nuclear installations and military installation and more than like planning/researching an attack got to do with Russia.

Are you defending the American's, trying to play the situation down like its insignificant or what?

The Iranians were right in what they did, they dont have to hand the drone back. Agree/disagree?

And like i said if the shoe was on the other foot and it was the Iranians flying drones over the US or UK nuclear installations, it would be enough for the UK and US to start a war or escalate things.

We have a treaty which allows Russia to fly military aircraft into our airspace? Which treaty is this?

I'm trying to play down the situation like its insignificant. Because it is - it's happened loads before and will happen again in the future.

To be honest I'd be more bothered if the Yanks were NOT spying on Iran, because then they'd just be guessing at what it is they are doing which is hardly appropriate.

Someone meantioned above, not me. Regarding spying on each other.

A hostile nation flying drones over your nuclear installations is insignificant to you. A drone, which they lost control of, which posed a genuine risk to civilians? Is insignificant. Like i said if the shoe was on the other foot, i suspect your response would be different.

those sanctions actually causes them to make their own technology, they made their own missiles which is the same quality of a hawk missile. Most of the scientists there are pretty intelligent.

not really. they buy russian or chinese and reverse engineer it and modify it for production at home. they have relied heavily on these countries for missile technological help.

its taken them until 2007 to make a copy of a F5 fighter from the 1960's and even then its using a modified slightly dodgy russian engine from the 70's.

they have a lot of men and some old if capable weapons and know our modus operati but there is very little innovation in regards to building something from the ground up.

Looking at the video, is it just me or does that look more like a clay mock up than a production unit?
I know there are only a small number of them but some of the detailing and joins seem very crude for this type of aircraft?

We reguarly intercept the Russians flying TU-95 "Bear" bombers which are on long range missions. Half the time they enter international airspace protected by NATO, but because they havent filed a flightplan and dont respont to Air Traffic jets are scrambled to go check them out.

I haven't come across it in the times that I did QRA in the past, but it does happen.
