Torchlight II

So I just started playing Torchlight 1 last night, and I must say I'm impressed. very much enjoying it!

Tempted to just purchase TL2 now and start on that instead.

What do you guys reckon? Worth me finishing the first, or just start up on the second?

I can totally see how some people like yourself will like this.

Like myself? What are you insinuating? You know nothing about my gaming experience be it through pc gaming or my rather extensive collection of import games covering all console eras. Thank you very much.

You are the one ill informed, and not using any common sense. Torchlight 2 a game created by Runic Games. A company founded by Max and Erich Schaefer. Two of the founders of Blizzard North who created the game Diablo. It is fairly obvious due to this history that their new ventures would continue the gameplay style that they helped create. Next you will be moaning that "Marvel Heroes" the upcoming game being developed by David Brevik will be copying Diablo. Those three guys are far more entitled to follow and iterate the Diablo formula than Jay Wilson.

And looking at Call of Duty and Medal of Honor goes. I mentioned it because yes it is a similar case. Infinity Ward created Call of Duty. Infinity Ward was a company founded by Frank Zampella and staffed by the team from 2015 inc who developed Medal of Honour:Allied Assault on the PC. Call of Duty unsurprisingly was a further iteration of MoH:AA. But of course you knew that?

If that is true (you can't enable subtitles - I haven't checked) then if you feel like it you could raise it with Runic. Seems a sensible request and something I don't think would be hard to implement.

It was only for the very first cutscene (when you start a new game). Wasn't really put off by it as I had gotten the general gist of what was happening anyway. It's just that sometimes it can be hard to make some words out completely etc. For all the in-game little scenes, theres subtitles galore (misson text really).

As you know, games like these have that, if your playing single player there are situations where you need to deaggro, even the toughest Zerk will need to, that's where fish come into it.

What difficulty are you on?

Normal. Just remembered now that I had sent my pet away to sell a load of stuff before going in :p

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE ANSWER ME?

I WANT TO BUY DIS NAO.

To quote what Runic said on Twitter (Well, to quote it as closely as I remember)

If you care about the back story then you should play through TL1 first, however if you're not worried about that and just want the gameplay, jump straight into TL2.

I'd play TL1 first (you can get it for a pound or so through the current Humble Bundle, but it's worth paying above the average to get Vessel too) as it's a great game unless you only want to play multiplayer. Then you can see how much they've improved TL2.

I love the Torchlight games but if I'm honest I didn't get very far into the first game just because it's single player only. I tend to play games with my girlfriend and that was the one (pretty big) negative for me. So I'm playing Torchlight II without completing the first.

You might be able to find a 'lore catchup' type video on YouTube or something? I appreciate it's not the same as playing it through yourself though.

Playing as Outlander, does the Long Range Weapons Mastery account for Shotgonnes too? It doesn't say it does so im guessing not just need bullets to travel further! :P

Still have skill points building up no idea what to put them in to.

The story in Torchlight is probably its weakest point, if you want I'll just sum the first games story up in about two sentances, probably not worth playing the first for as II is more of the same just better and prettier.

I'm sure it'd be very easy to mod that, all you'd have to do is replace the video file with an edited one with subtitles over. Protip: never send your pet to town unless you have to, I am playing on whatever difficulty is second to top though, you'd probably get away with it on normal.

Yeah, counts for wands too iirc.

Ill come back to you on that. Need to make up my mind first! :D

Dude just drop it. I wasn't insinuating anything. I said like yourself because it is clear to me you like the game, not because I know your gaming experience. Your thinking into it way too deep now. TL2 is touted as a clone, CoD was not, simple as that.

Hi Guys,

This is possibly a stupid question but is this game anything like Dragon Age Origins?

I really loved that game and i'm looking for something similar.
