im quessing u have the USA import version? if u could inform me of that program works then please please please let me no!!!

Indeed i do have a gaming rig, although aging, it still excels with the games i play (bf2, 2142, fear to name a few)
Nope, I got a Jap one.

I take it when you say program you mean OS? If so then as far as I'm aware the only version made to work with the PS3 is yellow dog, http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/ydl/

Once installed you can easily switch between YDL and the Sony OS, but when in YDL you can download and install apps in much the same way you can do in Windows (although it's slightly more complicated being Linux). Sony have not released any linux support drivers for the RSX though as I guess they dont want cracked games to be playable via the add on OS.

game looks incredable graphically!! my heads shafted, about this, do i go import and enjoy the goodness early or wait for full uk version, i mean i no good things come to those who wait and all the malarky!!! also i personaly dont no any ps3 owners to test the console so as i said earlier, it looks like i got 2 wait :(

thats most likely because its in replay mode, notice how all racing games on consoles looks more 'photorealistic' in replay mode 99% of the time.

I was quite disappointed with F1 when I saw it playing in the flesh, just something about it didn't look that brilliant. Sure it does look great, but not as amazing compared to those replay shots above.

 Those piccy's are stunning, I had to look close as some of them look real. I must say that as someone who has had very little interest in the PS3 those screens are almost enough to change my mind. I personally prefer simulation more than arcade so I hope the full game has a simulation mode to make things more realistic, if it does then I may have to bite the bullet and think about getting a PS3.

It appears at the moment that the majority of games coming out on the PS3 are driving games, and the games out on the 360 tend to be first/third person shooters.

IMO the flaws with both is that:

a) The PS3 doesn't have any rumble which I personally feel is best utilised in driving games.
b) A KB & Mouse is generally better for shooters.

I really like the look of both F1 & Motostorm on the PS3 but can't imagine playing either without the rumble affect :-/ My mate has RR7 and tbh it just feels flat... (not the best example i know)

Forza is the best and most authentic driving game ever.

Its not F1 but its a proper racer.

The 360 has a better line up and better graphics hardware, and at the moment and lot more dev support.

Oh and its cheaper.

driving and fps are my favourite games lol, there is no clear cut console for me!! grr

im thinking this is gonna be a case ofbite the bullet and get both, but thats gonna hurt the lil bank balance huge style!

i could use the PS3 for racing and the 360 for fps

In the rare event i was to sheel out that much for something to play games on id would need to play on a few games to asee of the gameplay isd there. Don't just look at a few nice screenies and make up ya mind ;)

I'll probably end up with a Mac and a PS3. A Windows-capable computer and the Xbox 360 share a lot of common titles and what with Windows Live coming in the summer, I'd be happy with that side of things. The PS3 is a nice thing to have when the mates pile round after the pub and for those Sony-exclusive RPGs from Nippon.

Graphics dont make a game, and F1 YAWN so boring.

F1 is one of the best sports out there, nothign but adrenaline and when u got a group of mates all supporting different teams and having a beer ya cant beat the laughs. also unlike most other sports theres virtually no secteranism, cheating and most of all no major buttheads who bring the sport into disripute, that including micheal schumacher even though im a Renault supporter.

The first pic posted by Dazly was in game, the second and my links were for replays. Tbh some of the images in the link I gave look a little flat. I usually hate it when game shave cars with over the top reflections on them which make bodywork almost like a mirror but in some of those shots there hardly seems to be any reflections at all!

I would say you have two options.

1, Either wait until March (or import one if you are that desperate) and get a PS3 and use your PC for FPS games as you really cant beat the keyboard & mouse for fps imo. Then you have your FPS and Racing fix sorted.

2, Get an Xbox 360 and buy soem FPS and Racign games, wait until the PS3 comes down in price and get that too for F1 and Motorstorm etc.

I have it here in front of me, and it's a perfect case of screenshots/replays looks awesome, the actual in-game experience is just underwhelming..

I'm not saying it's rubbish, graphically it's pretty good, but it is nowhere near as good as you think it will be from those screen shots!..

But, if you like the previous F1 efforts, this is not a million miles away..

My brothers got the full version of F1 landing anyday now , it was on order last month.. just got to persuade my brother to let me hang onto his PS3 for a bit longer so I can at at least give it a go..

Just FYI, 360 driving games this year are
Forza 2
Sega Rally Revo
Colin Mcrae - Dirt
GTR
PGR4

PS3 should be
F1
Sega Rally Revo
Colin Mcrae - Dirt

(There are of course some pure arcaders like Burnout 5 coming to both, but it's not really worth mentioning these!)

2008 will bring GT5 as well for the PS3, but that's a little way off.

option 2 sounds like a plan man. just needs a bit of pondering, but option defo sounds excellent, never thought of it like that!!

to be totally honest im glad i started this thread because the info i have gotten from u guys has been first class and open my mind a lot more, so thank you guys, for everything. but please keep the info rolling!!

i no that game titles will only get stronger for both consoles so realistically its 6 for one, half a dozen the other!

It seems insane, but if you can afford more then one console, that's what a few of us are doing..

If I only had to have one console, the 360 would be it without a doubt, but I have a Wii, have an almost permanent loan of a PS3, just because I like to have every base covered..

Hey, you only live once..

I have to agree that this gen of consoles (inc the Wii) you really do need all three to not feel disapointed. Each one seems to offer something special and can't be ignored.
