Township Tale

well, i remember when i was off work for a week (2 weeks ago) i went on Quest one morning, and it said you were online a few hours ago, which made it around 5/6 in the morning !!

Does it count you as logged in if the app is open on your phone? Because The only time I have been up at that hour of the morning in the last while was when I travelled to the UK for a basketball tournament, and I checked the Oculus app when I got up. But, that was back in August. Since then, no, I haven't even been awake at that hour, never mind playing on the Quest 2!!

I need my beauty sleep, believe me :p:cry:

We've just found out that we don't in fact have the recipe for the medium sized wooden handle... which is a bit of a disaster when it comes to using pickaxes and lanterns in my mind. So once again, those handles are important to collect on chest runs.

Well with the new machine in the Blacksmith, we can take apart the older pickaxes etc. and use those handles to make new ones. Unless the handles breaks or there is a sudden uptake in the numbers playing on the server, I think we will be ok :)

just been looking at the Alta (Township tale) log in

we have 2 requests to join our Quest 2 version
one name rings a bell (from years ago), he might actually be in my steam friends list come to think of it

Must check those and see who has asked. It can only be someone that read about here, and if they are reading about it here, why aren't they joining in with the PC version?

Yeah, I've seen that video. The spotlight lantern along with the normal lantern on your pickaxe really seems to help light things up properly.

EDIT - Oh, and apparently you can remove lanterns by just reaching and grabbing it from the top? Though it may be a bit tricky to get the right spot.

Go for it Shi :)

i would , but we don't have the mining backpack yet, so instead i have created the 2 side ones and went mining on my own

no not "in" the mines, i went up top to try and level up and bring stuff back

i now have another mining level to choose

id like to do the ground shockwave next, unless we need the pick up items thing ? i think the next one up from that is larger radius

Coal is now over 400

copper ore is like 300, so i smelted 50 ore to ingots as they were getting low

Gold is like 250 now

only found 2 iron ores unfortunately

ok so i looked up mining skills

i could get either

"gatherer"
which only does stone, sandstone and flint"
the power up to this does "ore"

the "ground strike"

is useful to finding the "dip" in the floor to help finding your way down and also buildings in the distance

not sure what to get ..

or there is the one Unseul has, "Dynamite Strike"

I don't have dynamite strike in this run, it was the quest 2 one I did. I have the power strike you get when you hit 3 times I think.

I hadn't previously thought that the echolocation skill was useful, but in terms of finding the way down, it might actually be...

i was sure i saw your axe glow above your head before you smashed it down on Monday

was it any good?

the Echolocation skill is just helpful blind men finding there way around, or in our case a pitch black mine

You may have seen it glow, but that was probably the combat skill I've got triggering, or the critical mining hit powered up. The dynamite thing seemed fairly useful to take out a clump of a few ores to be honest, but in the time it took to powerup, I could have hit the thing 3+ times. Useful to do once when you first approach perhaps, but not after that.

Lots of the skills are convenience, rather than game changers. Though there are some. There's an air slash skill, that makes a melee weapon have a ranged attack. That's a game changer. I suspect the echo location, despite my initial reservations, may be similar. Basically anything that doesn't just save a few seconds, is probably more useful overall than things that do. The collection options are an inbetween bit for me, because collection is more of a pain than mining/chopping.
