Township Tale

We've just found out that we don't in fact have the recipe for the medium sized wooden handle... which is a bit of a disaster when it comes to using pickaxes and lanterns in my mind. So once again, those handles are important to collect on chest runs.

Yeah, I've seen that video. The spotlight lantern along with the normal lantern on your pickaxe really seems to help light things up properly.

EDIT - Oh, and apparently you can remove lanterns by just reaching and grabbing it from the top? Though it may be a bit tricky to get the right spot.

I don't have dynamite strike in this run, it was the quest 2 one I did. I have the power strike you get when you hit 3 times I think.

I hadn't previously thought that the echolocation skill was useful, but in terms of finding the way down, it might actually be...

i was sure i saw your axe glow above your head before you smashed it down on Monday

was it any good?

the Echolocation skill is just helpful blind men finding there way around, or in our case a pitch black mine

You may have seen it glow, but that was probably the combat skill I've got triggering, or the critical mining hit powered up. The dynamite thing seemed fairly useful to take out a clump of a few ores to be honest, but in the time it took to powerup, I could have hit the thing 3+ times. Useful to do once when you first approach perhaps, but not after that.

Lots of the skills are convenience, rather than game changers. Though there are some. There's an air slash skill, that makes a melee weapon have a ranged attack. That's a game changer. I suspect the echo location, despite my initial reservations, may be similar. Basically anything that doesn't just save a few seconds, is probably more useful overall than things that do. The collection options are an inbetween bit for me, because collection is more of a pain than mining/chopping.

Hey, you can go down the mines on your own, no problem. Just remember, if you use the Televator be sure to collect enough crystals to pay for your journey :p

Pretty much this :D.

Though I must admit, I'd be rather nervous about going mining alone. Really need to get some more heart flowers, and try and get to level 20, so on 21 we can do the trial and get the health shrine. Would feel safer if I can't be so easily killed.

Well looks like I won't be on for a while longer, my FTTP install failed today as they could not get the fibre through the duct to my house due to a blockage :(.
I now have to wait for another team to come back with more robust rodding to do the job (hopefully!) but I don't kow how long that will be yet.

Anyway sorry to derail the thread, carry on :)

That sucks man! Hope it gets sorted soon. We can show you around what we've found so far!

I think I did the run not long after you. Then Shi came on and we completed some bridges that we'd done in the quest version. The pathway to the woodcutting shrine, the rickety bridge and the walkway down to the blacksmiths all done now. I think there's another walkway somewhere round there that needs doing now I think about it.

I got on, didn't plan on spending long on though, so we didn't miss a mining trip. I did however build a mining backpack, if someone fancies taking it down for a test run, it's hanging in the blacksmith. I'm on holiday for a week from Monday, so probably won't get to try it out myself.

It also looks like I can put another attachment on (like the lantern holder doesn't count as an attachment!).

Shi had problems with his headset that we are currently fixing. That's why we didn't make it on at 8pm.

Enjoy your holidays Raggs. Hope you come back less stressed :p

We'll see, depends on whether either of the offers we've got on houses is accepted I guess. If neither are, then probably still stressed. Probably still stressed regardless in truth.

My mining backpack has the spotlight on, is that what you mean?

I was planning on going with spotlight on the backpack, lantern on the pickaxe. Got 2 pouches on the ore backpack for food, teleport potion and special finds etc. Though as I say, it doesn't look like the light holder takes a slot up?

Touches? The one we built for a flash light?

No, he means burning torches, like grass on sticks. If you make 3 stakes, put grass on them, put one in, light it, wait, stick the next one in next to it, so it catches, wait a little while, and put in the third. They should keep re-lighting each other as they go out, so permanent light.
