Toyota iQ

How much is your 09 plate IQ setting you back?

Its costing £5700 for the car, including the extended warranty, services, next years mot, its costing in total in around £6200 I believe.

Done 26k but the one lady owner and FSH and all that jazz, I'm quite happy, just can't wait to get it!

When I do I will post some photos up in here too.

Forget the 1 lady owner bit, that's not necessarily a good thing. Mine had 1 lady owner and it is obvious, in a bad way.

1 - parking scuffs on alloys from parking to the kerb i bet
2 - a little dig into the leather on the gear stick, must have some serious nails gripping technique lol
3 - some scuff on the door handle area, must have worn a lot of rings

Although it does have a full Toyota Service History so that is something and granted, all the above are all cosmetic and easily repaired.

and recently at work this conversation happened

Lady 1 ...........said something about cars....
Lady 2 "I don't service my car, that's what MOT is for"
Me (shocked) "You got to service your car!"
Lady 1 "why?
Me "well, it says in the book and you get a stamp, no one will buy it otherwise" (okay, I exaggerated a little)
Lady 1 "Nobody pay attention to that anyway"
Me "Well I do"
Lady 2 "Well, my car is on finance and I intend to keep it for a while yet"
....

at this point I slowly back out of the conversation. Lady 2 drives some new French hatchback thing, at least its not some rare Italian supercar.

Oh, they are both blonde :p

I also dated a girl who never service her car, a pug 206, until the engine gave up and died. She only found out afterwards that cars needs servicing.

Anyway. Lady owner = myth.

How long ago was your IQ's last service?

I have just had my iQ delivered tonight, and all is well.

Im just curious as to how easy clocking a car such as this would be? Only asking out of curiosity and how you can check if it has?

Pics ?

Most of the recent toyotas have digital odometers and can be very hard to clock.. they write the mileage to memory , so even disconnecting the power will not wipe it.

Check ya log books and swing it down to a toyota garage if u need to check.

Will update some pics, my mum just showed me the service history and has to be put back into the book, original has been lost.

And yeah With the FSH there it all seems to check out..

I have had an IQ for 18 months and it has been great.
I do about 7,000 a year and mainly town driving with some journeys upto 25 miles each way.
I would go for one that has 5 warranty I was lucky mine just qualified i believe it cars after july 2010.
Auto express this week are doing a buying guide
I have saved 50% on fuel and insurance.
It feels like a big car and on Motorways it is fine.
I have a 1 litre and it is not fast but you can keep up with traffic.
You may have to change down on inclines but it is no issue.
I have been impressed by my local dealer.
Mine is a IQ2 and so it has all the gizmos and full climate control and 9 airbags.
I looked at Aygo but the IQ is like a Lexus.
I am keeping mine for 5 years and I will get another one.

This cannot be a serious post.

I would also not pay 6 and half thousand pounds of my own money to own such a car.

I paid the same amount of money 12 months ago for a 08 plate Yaris with a much bigger engine.

So a year on, same money for the same age car, same manufacturer, smaller everything.....don't get it.

I understand the whole low tax, low insurance town driving thing, I know the 1L will keep up with traffic but can you even overtake anyone in this thing?

Just drove my car properly for the first time heading to college this morning.

One thing is bothering me though, when i accelerate there is a slight rattling noise from behind, I believe it is the exhaust, does that sound right.

And if so, should I take it to Toyota, get them to diagnose then take it to the dealership where I bought it and get it sorted under my 12month warranty?

Probably a heat shield if it's a metallic rattle, if it's banging then maybe a mount. Just ask the place you bought from to sort it - wont be an issue
