Toyota Yaris GR4 4x4 Rally going into production.....

That's me all over, one day I might grow up and act like a man nearing 50 :o but not today :D the car that would be replaced has white on white, love it, had it a few times now though, would like that red/white shown earlier on the Yaris as I like red/white combo, nothing worse than black alloys IMO, don't see the wheel style well.

I'm with you, i love a while alloy.

My old MX5 was blue with white multi spokes. In my head it looked great!

As you say, white on red looks good too.

Had a test drive this morning, thankfully the dealer just gave me the keys and let me get on with it as i selected some nice b roads around the Northampton countryside to blast down, power delivery is good and the stopping power of the brakes is excellent. i actually quite like the sound they pump in to the interior for engine noise, its not that bad. The car is very quiet from the outside.

Didn't have a lot of time to test all the 4x4 modes but mainly left it in track mode 50:50, on the damp b roads the car was nailed to the ground, you can build up confidence very quickly. When i first got in the car i was a bit worried about the limited view out of the windscreen due to the rear view mirror but soon got used to it along with the small rear window. Gearbox and shifter felt nice and tight with a short throw, getting back in my Audi estate afterwards felt like stirring a bowl of soup when selecting gears.

Overall im happy enough to keep my order in and the dealer is going to let me have a more relaxed test drive in the new year. they had borrowed a demo today so it was a bit rushed to get all of us a test.

Only negatives i have at the moment are:

Lane Assist - Very annoying, turned it off. Hopefully its possible to make sure this doesn't automatically turn on each time.
Dash Storage - Plenty of places to store a phone etc but its all cheap plastic and slippy. needs some rubber compartments etc.

For those that have placed an order, how have your toyota dealers been regarding doing some form of deal? I've already had a test drive, but they are not willing to do anything on price at all.

Unsure if this is across the board or just this dealer with me? as I thought some folks had suggested they'd managed to get some money off list.

I haven't started attempting to negotiate yet, but I don't expect much if anything. Maybe tank of fuel and a keyring is about all you'll get, why should they? They're already going for over list and the UK allocation is 99% sold out.

I made the mistake are not trying, heard on the FB groups someone got £600 off, not sure if any truth in it, but to be honest I am happy to pay asking price so though £600 in my pocket would be nice its not end of world and I suspect as they seem to have pretty much sold them all now and rumoured price increases coming for second lot why would they discount something if they can sell it twice over.

Mine is still on for March delivery. As that time gets closer I will still try and blag at least a tank of fuel, still not even had a test drive yet.

Didn't bother. Ordered online and not through my dealership as they seem pretty woeful at communication at the best of times.

I think the discounts were given when people dropped an order at the beginning of the year and were pretty negligible anyway. At the moment your chances of anything meaningful are slim to none.

You could probably get a full tank of fuel.....so £40 worth :D

Seems pretty universal then. I'll have to just go back and admit defeat, or try settle for a tank of fuel as you guys say.

I think I'm expecting March delivery too, glad I put the deposit down when I did as it seems people are being quoted August now.

As much as the wait for the car is annoying. Its not a bad thing, let other people discover any "teething" problems and the aftermarket release a few bits and bobs.

I am keeping my eyes open for mudflaps and maybe some interior bits. Also wouldn't be adverse to some exhaust mods to release some 3 pot sound.

Toyota are usually pretty good at releasing aftermarket parts themselves via TRD. Normally they do an exhaust and intake

The latest HKS sounds pretty nice, not offensive loud but a much better tone than stock and engineered to prevent boom in the cabin at low RPM.

Yes I have seen that, and it does sound quite tasty. Not too over the top! But I have never been too sold on blue tips (ooooh eeeerrr).

By the time most of us get our cars, I am sure some of the UK manufacturers like Miltek and Scorpion should have something.

Over on the GR Yaris forum JCR have released a titanium exhaust at circa £2k!

True, 2k is way to much for an exhaust to be frank and a part of me says leave it stock for simple fact you can drive fast unheard. :D

Are you only referring to your current cars?

Well true, but the SVR I left stock and I think it was Mustang before that which admittedly had several different exhaust fitted looking for right tone/noise, in the end I left it with the loudest most obnoxious one I could find. :D
The 911 before that was stock though too, apart from X51 manifolds. I've lost track a little to be honest.

Probably needs some kind of GPF bypass to get a good noise from it. It sounds a bit monotone even with the HKS.

Someone needs to make a switchable valve to bypass it then it will slip through an MOT :D
