Track your poop

Anybody know if there are actual sewer maps available?

From what I’ve seen they are held by water companies and copies by some councils. They are under obligation to make these available to the public. So contact them to see how they can be viewed.

Well......I know one thing for definite.....My 'poop' is going no where near a sewer as I know where they are in my area, used to work for the Severn Trent and was involved in the waste treatment side of things, and I can positively say that they don't go under the houses in my road.....FAIL

A couple of weeks ago I was in Edinburgh and did the St Mary's Close tour which is a street now under the Royal Mile.
It used to be open and the buildings were about 8 storeys high and the close/street was about 6 foot wide.
It was explained that twice a day the residents would tip all their poo out of the windows onto the street/close at a certain time and the poo would then slowly move down the hill to the North Loch which was obviously full of poo.
People walked in these streets with no shoes on and one street was a bit wider so they could have market stalls down it while the poo moved in between their toes.

Whenever threads come up about the greatest invention EVER the only answer is toilets/sewers.

I have a hard drive with most of the UK's sewer maps on.

I'd love to see that especially where the sewers are around my area.
When my poo goes out into the street is it going into a pipe or is it going into a tunnel that a man could stand up in?
I watched a great documentary a couple of years ago about when the London sewers were built.
I love poo and that's why I changed my name by deed poll.

I thought it was because you were full of it?

I jest.

Seriously though, if I get chance over the weekend I'll hook up the hard drive and have a look, I can guess where you are from the pics you have posted.

Although actually, I might be tempted to come round and stove you in.

I jest.

I won't ask how you know that.

I work for the consultancy arm of a Water/Wastewater treatment construction specialist (www.biwater.co.uk) and we hold positions on frameworks for a range of things with the majority of the Water companies in the UK.

www.farrerconsulting.com if you want to know more about the company I work for.

My side of things is surveying, and hence I've seen a lot of sewage and clean water treatment works. Amazing what comes out in sewage works, remember the first time I kept seeing little plastic tubes and thought "Jesus there must be a lot of junkies round here" as I thought they were the covers off needles. In reality they are the plastic sticks from all the cotton bud sticks people flush down the bog.
