Tracking

Hate to admit, but have generally used Kwik Fit for tracking!!
Always seems to do a good enough job and i can tell pretty quickly from steering feel if it is out - feels vague and light/squishy.
Will say my car seems to be very prone to going out of alignment though. Would a 'better' place make any difference to that, or if it's right , it's right?
 
Lets get things into perspective here. I'm driving a rusty 142K BMW on the motorway every other weekend.

I'm not racing on the track or driving like I haven't been laid.:D

I sit back listen to Radio 4 and pick my nose.:p

I'm sure these tyres will be fine. If not I'll replace them with some Sunny ones!:D

Didn't have you down as one to skimp old chum, funds tight? :D :D
 
Got the tracking done...Was 90inc and the indy said it was very badly out.

Also got the Sport 910's fittted.

Any idea what they actually adjusted?

You can do front and rear toe plus rear camber but the silly part is that if there are so many joints and bushes to wear out that once there is play you can have it setup up by pixies/unicorns/virgins, but if the suspension is worn out all the settings will be all over the place anyway

I have the print out in the car...I will take a look

Hi mate,

Now that it's been a while would you still recommend these? I know there are literally loads of people buying these based on numbers sold on eBay. I have an open mind- I know they won't necessarily be on par with premium brands, but I know these are made for Bridgestone so guess they're worth considering.

Absolutely... I would buy them again no problem...finally a budget tyre that's not crap by any stretch of the imagination.

Feel confident when driving

They have been great in the wet....I drive empty country lanes to work...believe me I have tested them out in the wet with a spirited drive...


Does my head in the tyre snobbery on here tbh...yes some budgets are crap these are not...

Except it's usually bang on

There will always be exceptions, but generally speaking you get what you pay for. The tyres on my FN2 are Kenda something or other - they're still quite new, maybe 6mm and they are absolutely terrible, borderline dangerous in the wet. Yours may well be one of the 1 or 2 cheaper tyres that actually perform well, who knows - I'm not really that interested in finding out on my own cars.

If I swap them for another £60 a corner 18" budget special, likelyhood is they'll be the exact same. Put something like the Falken 910 or whatever their run of the mill tyre is now and it'll be borderline acceptable and more expensive. Pay a bit more again to say Hankook Evo prices and you get a good tyre with a couple of compromises (but very close to the same cost as the big boys), move up again to sport contact (which I just have), Eagle F1 etc and you'll get an excellent all rounder.

Everyone makes their own choice and you'll always find extremes/outliers, but it's naive at best to suggest that the more expensive tyres are not markedly better.

So the Primewell rears lasted nearly 2 years and 20k...Not failed MOT but down to 2.5mm....The fronts are still fine..

Value for money if you ask me.:D

Next up is UNIGLORY passion...37 quid each for the rears...
 
Your line that if they aren't any good you'll buy some more tells me your not strapped and buying on a budget which makes me wonder why not just buy premium in the first place (having researched which premiums to buy!)
142k or not, it's the only thing that holds you to the road and thus not to be scrimped at, I've seen 4-500k mile trucks re-shod at work with premium (Goodyear afaik) tyres when cheaper options exist, these are motorway munchers and arguably don't need the extra expense but they fit the quality stuff for a reason, even though often the trucks are weeks away from replacement.
It's simply good practice.

Car, truck or bike, regardless of age or mileage, your making a false economy by opting for the cheaper stuff, you get what you pay for, in the case of tyres though the one time you really need to feel the difference and benefit could well be your last if it's not up to the job.

You'll probably be fine, don't get me wrong, I just hope and pray you don't find yourself in a position to find out the hard way.
