Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

CNR up 31%, MTA down %16.

I'm tempted to cut my losses with MTA, absolute dog of a share with a completely incompetent track record. **** ups time and time again with their wells, could have been up and away with others instead of being locked in with these clowns. /rant.

Condor is off and running again!!! Up 31% at time of writing this morning

About time, as I'm down about 35% on CNR. Luckily I only have a relatively small holding in CNR.

I have a lot riding on MXP (Very high risk) which is about to go boom or drop like a brick anytime now!

Any advice to someone trying to get into this for the first time? Certainly looks very intruiging and although i've done some reading up on things in the past, I still wouldn't feel confident on where to really start!

Any good guides out there for people new to stock trading?

Thanks :)

Already had its peak last week? What is new today?

Previous RNS:

"The initial results of Uytas are very encouraging and could prove to be significant given the apparent size of the oil column. While we need to finish drilling the well to evaluate it fully, we are excited to have a potential commercial discovery before reaching our principal objectives."

Some more results of this drilling is expected this week.

Think we'll get news Wed-Thurs from MXP, hopefully will be good, they sounded pretty positive in the RNS last week.

Also the founder of DANA Tom Cross will be joining as Chairman of PMG on the 9th November, he's looking to create another DANA. The share price has already risen over 250% on news of his appointment, currently 7.875p, and it looks like there going to be very well backed. One for the long term definitely.

First post in here, been watching DES for a while, especially this morning, way too up and down to be based on anythign official.

Was up a little early on and then seemed to take off - the only news out was the 3D sesmic news but that's not the reason for this activity.

Now seems to be down to 100.

I have little experience in Oilies, I only bought RKH a couple of days ago at 325p.

How does the off shore drilling actually work? Obviously there isn't the tv image of oil spiking into the air and soaking the ground, but at what point do they know that they've hit oil?

My train of thought centres on the issue that while the BoD has a legal obligation to release price sensitive information asap, surely that information has to be qualified? If you don't find any HC's, then it's pretty cut and dried, but if you do, the devil is in the detail and it isn't about finding oil, it's about how much oil has been found. That must take time?

We're not going to encounter a Texan driller telling his mates his hands are oily, but is there a metaphorical equivalent for Off Shore Drilling?
