Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

hopefully the guy with the 5k doesn't see this and buy Palantir.
the stocks valuation is crazy, it's gone up soo much recently that it would be incredibly risky to jump in now IMO.

There's a real risk people start realising gains as soon as it hits the nasdaq 100 and we see a pull back.

There's also a risk it never sees this price ever again, and they get loads of gov money from trump, but that's wishful thinking, especially with musk in trumps ear.

You know musk is going to be wanting that AI money, regardless of whether there's better stuff already available that's proven or not
Forward p/e is 161x. Oof - it's no meme stock but that valuation is crazy. I think S&P 500 average is about 23x.
I thought it was overvalues at $39!

I owned easy jet when it got bumped up.
And it actually went down.

I guess it was the speculation of the inclusion that raised the stock before and people took gains after.

Granted, this isn't the snp though

Palantir stock is just ridiculous - makes it worth something like $165 billion at current price...

Based on revenue of £725 million....

Well done to those owning it but it's just stupidly overvalued/hyped

I've done with plantir what I've done with tesla.
Keep thinking it's over valued and not go on. Then go... Why didn't I buy in!?

I've held Tesla for a while - I can see something there at least in terms of value/increase etc.

Some of these other ones are just ridiculous overheated stocks.... Ludicrous numbers

They have a massive moat of billions and billions of $ that other companies would have to spend to catch up

it's not based on the revenue it's based on PLTR being able to process sensitive government data in real time that very few companies will ever gain access to.

I'm guessing your one of the people who don't realise or want to understand what Palantir actually does..

ask israel and ukraine

You are right about the valuation, it's ridiculous.
no one is saying buy it though.

all the Palantir I own still is pure profits and imo worth holding long term, If I were trying to play catch the dip on palantir I'd probably have exited around 30$ and never saw an entry point again.

a lot of people on here probably take their gains too soon, I lost out loads during covid from jumping around stocks all the time.

any one of my stocks could drop 50% and it probably wouldn't even bother me, unless it was intel.

who here held kraken, palantir, robhinhood, rocket labs in the last year and bailed because 20-30% profits or whatever was too much?
was the grass greener because someone said they are overvalued? were you scared because your only supposed to make 15% a year across your whole portfolio?

I don't even see the point in realising gains unless you need the money tbh, why you invest in the company in the first place is probably still the case when you press the sell button.

doesn't even seem like there's much growth stocks to buy into now, so If I sold I'd likely just be sat waiting for the next stock market crash earning 4.9% or whatever

There's a hell of a lot ofOvervalued stocks in tech out there at the moment
people are buying into the AI revolution and I guess what they will see as the monopolies on it in the future.

The valuations are high sure, but so is the potential and the fear of missing out.

a lot of companies are using AI as nothing more than a buzzword to get investors attention though. no doubt some bubble will burst, but that doesn't mean they pull down the good companies with them.

That's originally why I bought in.
Even if one or two of them take off.. It will be worth it.

Most smart and seasoned brokers will tell anyone invested in equities at this point to expect a pull back / crash / bursting of the bubble which could be as severe as -50%.
I've heard a lot of analysts who are that way inclined and have pulled back their equity exposure. If you don't have to touch any funds within the next 3/4 years then it's probably fine to ride it out but anyone using their portfolio to fund their lifestyle (ie retired folks) might want to ask themselves "what if". That's way I'm more cautious at present despite the real FOMO.
Trump is going to really go for it this time which means unpredictability, volatility at a time where debt is at all time high and there is so much economic uncertainty across the globe.

What platform are you guys using to follow share/fund prices. I'm on ADVFN, but its £250 ayear for live UK prices, with the rest (USA etc) delayed. I've been on there for over 20 years, and I find the portfolio monitor is useful, but I'm wondering do any other platforms allow you to watch a load of shares/indices/funds etc in a similiar way and at a reduced price ?
No one willing to share what portal they use to monitor stock prices indices etc in real time ?

Tbh since we have interest rates beating inflation for the first time in a long time, I'm happy sat on cash. Banked a decent amount in the recent ramp up, and being out for a couple weeks I'm still in a better position than if I stayed in.

My view is that it's volatility is the next few months. The period of mostly positive gains is done for now, we're in FOMO territory now and it'll be up and down like a yoyo as retail gets burnt.

I've got 15% still in a couple of biotech firms that I'm dipping in and out of on the swings.

I kind of agree this is fomo territory.

I've always picked bad times to pull money out. Every single time I've tried to time the market on selling I've gotten it wrong.

I'm hesitant to pull out due to this. But there are stocks flying that are literally flying on misinformation

If that doesn't tell you it's fomo/hype etc I don't know what does.
