Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Ooo and optimist. I have a bit in them at 16p, hopefully they can sort things out.

I would expect a bounce tomorrow though - are you planning to hold or make a quick buck on a day trade?

No, I think I will hold this one for some time, I bought first batch at 38p, another 18p and today at 12.3p.

Talk about catching a falling knife, im now in for 35k:rolleyes:

But at least BARC is back up, thats my big holding at the moment.

Hope it's in an ISA or it's hello CGT.

What's the best resource on CGT for small investors?

I've got about 6K invested made up of reinvestments etc. I don't want to be caught with my pants down, so would like to know where the limits lie.

Me too, I've lost about £2.5K on this one :(

Let's hope the administrators manage to sell the firm and at least give us shareholders something, but I wouldn't hold your breath :(

Yep I've lost about £2.5k with ROK also, sadly I also work for them so I won't have a job either which is nasty just before Xmas!

Who are you guys using for trading?

I used Hoodless Brennan a couple of years back but they have changed now so before I sign up again was wondering who else is worth considering or whether there's better options now?

I don't really do much share buying, i'm more of a spread betting person. Paddypowertrader is what I use.

Can be the same thing. Does anyone have a share account with credit on it, think someone mentioned hsbc with 10k and I think barclays do that also but require like 30 pages of forms to be filled out in triplicate

see x-o halifax or iii for cheapy trades at various levels

Dollar up but still repeating itself. Needs to be above 78.50 for a real sell off, google dxy for a figure

What was the original reason to buy ROK especially Sounds a lot like CNT a victim of government cut backs ?

Well a lot of new contract wins, the fact that it seemed to be a recovery play based on its relatively low price, plus confidence in the form of director buying, payment of the dividend, and assurances that the recent problems in the plumbing dept. were restricted to the plumbing department. It was also quite far away from the limits of its lending facilities, so saw no indication that a bank might pull the plug.

ROK actually already culled its social housing sector and was more in the market for private work, so should not have been affected much by gov't cutbacks.

I had been in ROK for quite a while and it has been my worst pick ever, and my biggest loss. I think a lot of people were surprised by its sudden collapse given the above.

@ BigNeil , a few pages back, a many many thanks for RRR tip. I'm loving it, as im sure a few more on here are to ! Thank you
