Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Well friday volume was less then half the average, a rise built on weak volume is no good.
30m for a company with actual ongoing assets is dirt cheap though

I rebought a tiny bit of GKP but it didnt do anything last week. It could still rise from here but this over a billion now, its not in the same category any more

Range Resources (LON:RRL, ASX: RRS) has engaged international geochemical company Actual Geology International Limited (AGI) to carry out a “helium” survey on the 3 top multi‐stacked prospects in the Republic of Georgia, to improve the chances of discovery success.

Barc hit bottom and some and then bounced like a bowling ball. XLF and GS did really well on friday though so its not got an excuse to dive, I think 280 near term is where I will offload some and hold the ones I bought too high. should have dumped everything when it was 300 but whatever

Santander was a real proper bounce thanks to extreme reversal in euro currency amid rumours of bail outs. Not sure what price this should be sold at so may just hold it longer, it yields well over 5% so I should add if anything. Large parts of it have nothing to do with spain

Down in December, will buy a bit of skr tomorrow

Good rises for BMR this morning but DES has taken a huge hit this morning on report of finding water instead of oil.

Yee-ouch 43% down. Bet there are a lot of people crying into their cornflakes this morning, feel for them after getting the finger from Matra in similar circumstances. :(

HL do research on a fair few shares, worth reading

I highlighted the ones I own. lloyds and rbs I bought and sold this week, somewhere under 60 for lloyds I think is a nice entry and 56p is where the largest amount of dealing has occurred apparently though that excludes government I think

VOD is good but a bit late to the party there. Questor discussed them. I got telefonica (O2) instead

They all sound safeish but if you arent sure on percentages maybe a ftse or uk based fund would be better still. Here is the percentages inside a plain ftse tracker - http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hl?s=EWU+Holdings

You can average into funds more easily and cheaply

Why do you like, MAY GURNEY INTEGRATED
Seems like a difficult sector, also you have no oil ? All the big oil is too cheap I think

Really appreciate your reply Silversurfer - thank you. I have a chap from Hargeaves Landsdown meeting with me in the new year to look at stratergy etc. He has advised they do not advise on specific shares to invest in, rather, managed funds. I think this is very sensible for someone such as myself, but I do want to feel I have an active interest in the markets.

I have also heard good things about Killik & Co, and so will give them a call to see what they could offer me.

Yeah - it's being moved now apparently.

Ah yeah Jacinta plus one more according to the RNS. Jacinta is 100% DES too, but based on the previous 3 drills I don't hold out much hope. Did like the bit at the end of the RNS though about the geologist's history - wonder why they did that...

I'm a small holder at 100p so will just sit and ride this rollercoaster.

Nice jump up on EDL, big volumes traded today at 43mil and rising. Come on target price...

Edit - Broken 1p! 52 million shares traded now.

Edit - 1.15 36.9% up - 61 mil traded - bah why didn't I put more in to this?!

DES continuing to plummet, 67p nearly 50% down. Some seriously unhappy traders on the boards, and rightly so. Cries of insider trading and all sorts.

Man I am so tempted to write a noob's guide and get it stuck in the first post.

Alas, I've already done one for something else this month. :D

salad dressing, they'll make a fortune with the right marketing

rrl broke up a bit today. Rising in line with lows of Feb and a year ago when it rose 300% in a day, its been on repeat since

gkp still idling, is it waiting for something

irish budget voted on tomorrow apparently this means something
