Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Oh yes obviously :p Still 787% in 13months though :D

I could buy £99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 worth of a share and let it go up 1% and still make more profit than you.

Can we stick to real money in this thread please?

I'm Wondering at what price I should sell BP. I bought 4k worth at £4.35 now it's up to £4.91. How high will it go?

Edit: I know no one knows the answer to that lol. Just wondering about opinions. Do people think it should get up to it's high point of £6 again over the coming months?

not over the coming months, no but i'd hold out for £6 again, that's what i'm doing :D

and does anyone know the deal with fb?

Looking for an entry point in ALO. Looking for around the 4p mark. Gonna keep an eye on them.

Also looking to enter Cineworld at 212-212.5p.

Took a punt at CNR at 8.6p, hoping to be able to sell off at 9p before the end of the day.

Ah, yeah we wont have chance to buy them until they hit the market. Too risky for me, as the article says - another dotcom bubble. Facebook isn't really worth anything in terms of real assets.

Could be a good opportunity if they can sustain growth, everything seems to be linked to facebook now so it's a bit different to the companies of the 90s.

DYOR and all that before you buy some.

Facebook is worth a ton in advertising space. 50b is a bit rich, are they big in asia but you can compare them to google and that company makes money fine

BP doing well. My quick opinion is not to sell just yet, I always sell too early but even I cant dump them here.
Had I bought more at 300 then I'd certainly take some profits but I can actually remember buying some at 500 mark which occured when the heavy mud plug was still a maybe, unfortunately that failed and the spill got worse before it got better

It was a hesitation point on the way down and will likely be on the way up. The company value is reduced some. Targets would be 496 508 520 540 and 550 was 09 feb low so would be very much a doubter by that point though oil price has risen greatly

Thinking 520 is reasonable, its not likely we will get there without falling first which always pees me off. 461 is support below, possible buy for the brave though 382 was the last time I bought and sold that part off already unfortunately.

Tons of my shares up a lot today including RRL and its on double volume again, good job. BP also higher vol

It only takes 5 mins to buy in theory. Yes 500 is enough so long as you dont mind losing it you can ramp up the risk taken and the gains possible to maybe 15x original capital.

FTSE 100 average gain since 1984 is about 6% pa. You arent so likely to get much better then that but its possible and its preferable to the lottery imo

Can anyone find out the current P/E ratio for the FTSE 100? I've tried numerous charts and tables but can't find it anywhere.

I have HMV, just holding and hoping they sort themselves out. Let's hope its all sunny next year as they blame snow for their crap results.

I wouldn't buy anymore

For those that hold,

Max Petroleum has jumped 20%+ today! Rumblings of news on the UTS drill.

I managed to catch a bit of the raise. Jumped in with what I had left in my account and made a quick 10% and baled.

Could be too soon for news on UTS and with MXPs past record, I didn't want to chance it.

hmv down 20%, worth purchasing a few?

Ummm looking at the T/S:

Given the difficult trading conditions over Christmas and the likely outturn for the year, the Board now expects that compliance with the April covenant test under the Group's bank facility will be tight and is taking further mitigating actions during the next four months to address this.

You would have to be insane to put any money into them. In my opinion probably a decent short from here.

DYOR, WTFDIK, etc etc ;)
