Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

I sold my RRL at 5.5p a while back now, worst trade i've made to date, would have been 10k up on that deal by now.

Truth be told I was using your trading as a guide for mine. The only reason I didn't sell at 5.5 was because I was on holiday for the week and couldn't get to a PC. I actually owe you a beer or 10 :)

re: pull out

Taking profits and selling everything are pretty different. I'd say always sell a bit of profit unless you really know they are undervalued. Right now they are overvalued for their current production I think but still undervalued for their potential, all the money is on whether they can produce a lot more.

Maybe its related to their Texas natural gas fracturing, theres been some buying up of production in that market. See CHK
Today the gas inventory report showed as 9% under estimate which can only help prices

Volume ended 8x the 3 month daily average which should be a confirmation of the rise I think

CEY reversed on rumours egypts leader may resign soon. Not entirely sure if thats good news, depends what happens next

RRL now up 33%

tempted to slice off my original investment amount and let the rest go for now.

I had £5000 in at an average of 4.8p, you can imagine how happy I am to check the SP today too see 16.75p close.

But if you work out valuations for oil they have, trinidad, puntland and other areas even been really conservative I come back with 22-27p price range. So I won't be looking to sell until its in that range which I firmly believe it will be within the next 6-8 weeks and thats based on just what we know now and conservative figures.

If Georgia and other areas see really positive news, spudding, rig mobilisation the share will go flying past 30p and maybe as high as 50p.

Fact is I firmly think RRL is the best share to be in during 2011 and if you can wait it out by end of 2011 it will be sitting anywhere between 40-80p I believe.

At 25p SP my 5k investment will be worth 25k, at 40p its over 40k. Its tempting to just sit on them for the year as those high SP's will come and it would be very nice to go buy a house and say yes I am putting 50k down as a deposit. :)

Gibbo, you think its too late to get in on RRL? I realise what you're saying regarding the long term, but in the short term, you think it will dip down?
(Just asking for your gut feeling :))

So, in a moment of madness I got in SAR at 4.7 expecting more. I got more...but then it quickly retreated :(

So now I play the cut my losses (65%) game or the waiting game :(

I feel for you Vanilla, depends on how much you've bought - personally, if it were me, I'd wait - at the end of the day, it isn't a loss till you actually sell it at a loss. If you can afford it I'd stay in and wait it out.

There is a chance that the recent drops is a lot of profit taking by day traders or people selling from the original .25 levels (who could blame them really!!!) so in the next few days / weeks it may build up once more. I got in at 3.15 and was bloody lucky to get out at 3.2 after a very stressful day of watching it hit the 3.8 area, and simply not being able to sell what I had, then seeing it fall to 2.5 area and I even considered taking the loss. I held and watched it build back towards 3p+ around the 3 quarter of the trading day, and luckily sold out.

Read here: http://www.iii.co.uk/investment/detail?code=cotn:SAR.L&display=discussion

You may be able to get some useful semi-professional information from people reading L2, and the charts (if that even applies to a share trading around 1bilion shares each day).

Read up, make an informed decision on whether you think they have the materials to progress further than where they are currently, or sell out if you think the current 1.75 is good value (even at a loss).

Best of luck buddy

Sold at 17.25p!

£9500 profit on top of my 5k investment. It may have been unwise, but takeover is just speculation and the BOD released news this morning stating unknown as to share increase which basically means no takeover, does not dispute a buyer building a stake though.

Still sold up, rather the 15k in my bank. :)

nice one.

Still holding my "free" SAR shares - tempted to dump them if they hit 2p for some free cash

Now I have no idea what to do lol. I was willing to leave my money in they you drop this bomb!

Oh what to do!!

If I'd just invested I'd probably leave it in, if it drops back I think it will find support 14/15p and I really feel it will move back over 20p soonish, but when you have that amount of money on paper and I've sat on them for 6 months it was time for me to take my investment and profits. Better in my bank than numbers on paper.

If it now shoots over 20p I shall cry. If it drops I may get back in.
