Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Yep its going to hit 5p tomorrow.

Hold on a minute, if i could make predictions like that I would be sleeping on a pile pile of money with many beautiful ladies :D

unscoped punts are always fun, i got stung just like everyone else on PYC :D thankfully £500 in PYC and £20,000 in BARC

lol - fun in planning, nerve-racking when executing, utterly terrifying when attempting to sell and not getting a quote [eek]!!

Hey all, got some stocks i want to watch tommorrow when the markets open.

Google Finance is obviously 15 min delayed, is there anyway i can see the first hour or so live?

Just out of interest if one were to put in a buy before start of trade, would they get the close price or would they get the open price (i.e. if it shoots up?)

you would tend to get the opening price this morning but if there is a lot of movement on opening, the god only knows what price you will get!!

SAR has over 1000 million shares in issue and sold another 50 million yesterday to 'feed investor demand'
I guess that means the price wont be so wild but its not a negative overall so long as the money is used well. The results of the cancer treatment sound excellent, I imagine it will keep on doing well if it is a real advance. The company is only valued 36m still

People might want to look into the case of DNDN Dendreon also realised a treatment for prostate cancer recently. Market cap is 5bn
It that case it extends life by about a year I think, it is not a cure. Each patient on it costs about 100k
Suffice to say the share price went all over the place while it progressed through the approval process

This one sounds more valuable though who knows the sideeffects, etc

Sareum plans to use the proceeds of the placing to accelerate the advancement of the Aurora+FLT3 Kinase leukaemia drug discovery programme and for working capital generally.

“It is the board's view that the placing is the most appropriate means of providing capital to accelerate its drug discovery programmes and to provide working capital for the Company. The cost of funds raised through the placing are substantially less than those for an open offer or a rights issue to shareholders,” the company said.

A recent pre-clinical in-vivo study for Sareum's Aurora+FLT3 Kinase programme, targeting the most common form of adult leukaemia, showed that the leukaemia had regressed to such an extent that no detectable cancer could be found in any of the cases treated - ten in total.

Oh hai, I'm a biochemist. :D

I wouldn't be surprised if SAR is a pump and dump. With that sort of rise on what is a pre-clinical study is a laugh, they don't even have a drug yet merely an in vivo study with positive results probably not even scaled up.
BIG warning to you lot.

P.S.My background being in neuroscience.

Good to hear the forum has some experience. Just got to combine the two now. Share spike is normal but how sustainable is a rumour. Value of companies like DES would seem to say SAR should be worth a lot more? Or does DES have a higher value without a business because of equipment worth they own

RRL is a freight train, volume still good. Last nights closing price was still reasonably inline with previous price gains for the last couple years.
Now its starting to get extended, maybe justifiably but again its an estimating future business I think.
Crude oil price is dropping back though dollar is still not able to breakout

a lot of red today comes from Cisco disappointing, at one time largest company in the world :p (ala vw)
Still making a ton of cash, still got 30bn in the bank so far as I know but no promise of stella growth.
Some worried about their competetiveness in future, I think they are a bargain comparitively even if they dont grow especially

Indeed RRL trooping along nicely at the moment with none of the crazy speculation behind it!

SAR is down sub 2p now but it's all free money for me at the moment - tempted just to dump it and take my profit. Although I'm not in for the short term with most of my shares, it's medium to long term for me.

I have been looking at Cisco, but Im not sure, as Im half convinced their day has been and gone...
They used to make the best networking equipment, now everyone else has caught up and arguably in the case of Juniper and Foundry gone past them.
They are a leader in VoIP, but there are other very tempting solutions that will see them lose market share such as MS Lync..
I know of a fair few Uni's that are replacing their Cisco Kit as the ongoing maintenance costs are horrendous.
They are a steady stock, not a growth one...

Still watching RRL and counting the profit :D

There is an auction of sorts before the market opens, meaning the price can fluctuate pretty wildly, so best not to.

bullbearings... can someone explain 'limit' and 'stop' please.

for buying, I thought that "At Limit: Trade will be executed if the market price is at or better than your limit price." would mean lower price is better, and converse for selling.

is this right?

cos I thought I did a limit buy at 'x', but it bought at x + 25%
