Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Sold MW2, bought the Z4 with the trade-in cash. :D

Not really feeling gaming at the moment, taking a sabbatical. Some AAA title will undoubtedly get me back onto it.. like Alan Wake..

Good point about BP though, may be worth some investment now in-case they do get a good cap on the oil and the damage is reduced significantly. That said, I think the American government are looking to make them the bad guys in all of this. I'll be keeping my eye on them.

Shame, enjoyed our gaming.

Obama is concerned I think after the criticism Bush got over Katrina, plus two months ago he opened up the GoM to more drilling.

New trader here.

Im looking to invest some small amounts of money to earn just a little bit of pocket money. Have sold some shares i owned before.

Grandad bought me £100 worth of shares in TSB when i was born sold them at 18 for £1300

I dont want to rush this and ill probably guess its not worth my times due to broker fees? I will try the ballbearings site.

Should i bother, Probably only do £500 at a time. (uni student, part time work)

If you can afford to lose it then why not. The returns are significantly better if you find you are good at it, better than a savings account anyway.

£500 is what I started out with for trades and its a reasonable starting point. Though you'll probably be disappointed with the margins and start upping your amounts.

Give BB a go and see how you get on, use proper amounts and trade as if it were your money. If the market crashes in the near future because of the financial state of Europe you may want to jump straight on.. as per early 09.. anything was basically a good buy.. but those days are gone for now.

Thanks gord good advice. Ill will try my hand at BB first evaluate.

Honestly im not expecting a lot its basicly a bit of pocket money for my self. Saving for a new car for September so any cash towards this is a bonus.

Barc looks good value now as does XTA, Its probably not a great time to buy with the likelyhood of a hung parlament on Friday.

Does anyone think the likelyhood of a hung parlament is already priced in atm?

Yep US and Japan markets are not liking the Greek problems. I hope they get the various bits through their Parliament quickly so things can move on.

Hmm do i get out now at a loss and get back in later?

I'm staying in as I'm in it for the mid term (at least another year, probably two). My RBS ones are back to where I bought them last Autumn so the rally of a couple of weeks ago has basically been wiped out from the recent dip.

I'm still holding out. I've been out of AU. since last tuesday. The elections arnt a considerable issue but the markets will still react to a hung parliament imo. The european economy is the larger factor and I don't think its going to improve. If anything I see Greece worsening the European situation as the "community" try to revive them. It's going to hit the Euro and the continental stocks further. The uncertainty/volitility is rife and this won't make US/Asian markets happy either.

Going to be an interesting day tomorrow I think.

Wonder if Rockhopper will continue it's rise or retrace.

On the face of it yeah it's all good, but it's extremely early days.

VIX index shows things are very crazy at the minute. Its a good time to make and lose a lot of money! curious to see how Asia reacts to the DOW.

Non farms payroll tomorrow. If its a low number i'm expecting the markets to be pretty volatile.

Hmm, I was wondering the same thing. I really have no idea but Its normally quite hard for a company to hold on to its gains after it has gone up 150% in a day.

Same DES did not go up as much but I am not complaining as 62% gain in a day is still not bad.
