I don't understand the mentality of posting random things like that, it happens in the matched betting thread too.

Stuff like: 'made £50 on William Hill today' etc..

So frikin what? The thread is supposed to be a discussion of the subject, random comments about having made a quick win or loss add nothing other than noise.

So you just came here to ask me why I didn't post any losses? Maybe because I discovered this topic couple days ago and didn't lose anything since then? I expected that somebody will cry that I didn't post losses. That's so predictable. If I lose I will post so stay tuned.

If I shouldnt post stuff like that sure I won't...

Its not necessarily that you shouldn't, I just personally don't see the point. Tis one thing to discuss brokers or perhaps views on the economy or different stocks etc.. but just posting that you've won or lost X amount after the fact is useless information.

I suppose just posting random wins comes across quite "gloaty" and doesn't really make any conversation

As for me and my small dabbling
I'm thinking of putting a little bit into more oil.
I think 30 is as low as it can go opec etc are seemingly wanting to get the price up even if they can't agree
It's unsustainable for everyone at the moment

Still happy with sirius minerals. I believe they have a big news day on Thursday but jumped 17pc today (last time I looked)
It's a food based UK miner (pot ash) and very early days but could be a great one. Had shares since 8p

The fact that I made this amount of $$ means that I know what I do. I dont want to show off or something. Its not my point at all. Honestly I can completly ignore this topic and dont post anything. I feel like I want to help people, not trying to impress.

Due to situation in Syria I knew golds value will be increasing. I keep NUGT on swing position for couple of weeks. Same thing with oil. Its going up because of army. They try to store as much oil as they can. Thats how you approch stock market based on worlds situation.

I have also more technical approach to it based on studies in trading platforms. I found perfect "buy points" based on some lines on charts. I will tell more about it later with examples. Its damn late.

Anybody using tradestation?

I think the most relevant information would be:
- how you choose a trade setup
- when to enter
- when to take profit
- when to accept you are wrong and take the loss

I've been looking around at this day trading stuff for a few years. There is a lot around on the internet, but when I dig a bit and back-test against real data most of it will lose you money, often quite spectacularly.

Sirius minerals (sxx) up another 9pc today currently.
News is due out tomorrow I'm guessing it must be speculators

But Iran isn't going to play ball, and will probably increase production in the future. Their current levels are fairly low at the moment.

Additionally, while OPEC are starting to see a bit more sense, it does little (in the short term) due to the amount of oil already held in stock around the world.

no it doesn't

a random screen print as per the above doesn't help anyone

Yea I've had it similarly and I wish it were my majority holding but just a small punt. Seems a great project, I thought they had news already recently.

Just looking at the chart it does not appear enough volume is occuring right now to justify a special interest or optimism as it were. Between the last time it was this price and now theres been far more volume and selling then is happening now, suggest its momentary more then momentum building. Just a guess, I havent a clue whats supposedly happening news wise :D

These things take years usually to actually take hold as a profitable company, like Centamin is a fully formed egypt gold miner now, should be profitable if just a tad risky and Egypt currency went from 5.5 to 8.9 to usd :o I thought they had got some gas find recently to help their balance of payments, doesnt bode well that

Iran isn't going to play ball
Iran has a high cost of production and Saudi doesnt, though the fiscal budget is unbalanced now

This. Stop telling porkies, you know damn well that "omg made lots of moniez" isn't helping anyone. You came in here expecting everyone to suck you off and bow to your amazing wisdom and very accurate crystal ball only for people to call you out on it. If you want to help people then you would've explained why you shorted that stock, where you got your info from and what the deciding factors were. If you really did want to help others then your post kind of contradicts the fact that you know what you're doing, because if you did, you'd also know that your post was pointless.

So which is it? Willy waving or stupid?

I read this thread every time it comes up and some folks post great stuff but I don't feel qualified enough to contribute so I use it to gain insight and learn from others and when people come in here and their first post is "omg 20 mins 9k lol" then it makes you look a bit dim tbh.

I know, but I don't see it going much lower. And stocks will rise even on hints of increase in price. Just look at how volatile even a company such as tullow is.
It's obviously a gamble (in short term) but I'm willing to add if it hits low 30s

My old pfc shares are still at 900+ bought at below 700 at rock bottom price

Yeah it's also a punt for me. But one which is probably boom or bust. But I don't think potash will suffer like traditional metals.
I believe the news tomorrow is on thier feasibility trial results

Important!

It's the definitive feasibility study!

Tomorrow I expect to be owning something pretty nice or nothing!
At least I'm posting pre results so you guys don't say gloating ha!

This share is actually one of my favourites as it was more than a gamble. For Yorkshire to decline something so important to jobs in an area lacking, and the financial benefit to England tax coffers I thought planning would go through. It's going to be very expensive project. But it's one of those once in a blue moon opportunities that getting in early with even a small amount could give you an easy 10x return in a few years.

Worth the gamble. It's not as risky as random oil explorers!

^^ impressive, I did scalp the Sirus and put a little in Premier oil who got some help from the budget? Much more for ANTO which seems a sturdy company well run and unpopular now. dont know if copper is coming back or not, long term chart was posted and dude said it could easily keep falling true true

I agree though it does depend on the commodity price and demand on world growth, its a large market with big players. Its not going to be a simple, its looking a bit lacklustre for some reason but I could be wrong. I left some in but as a general take sell news buy rumour maybe tomorrow it'll spike but i'd miss it probably

I don't know what I'll do if it spikes tomorrow.
Will be tempted to take as it will probably dip (got caught out sticking with AFC too long after news). But I'll probably skim the top and leave the original in maybe
I'm definitely willing to risk for tomorrow's news! Exciting!

I bought pmo but too soon. So eventually I might break even, but I'm 40pc down! Whoops! But this rea was trivial amount.
I would like to get into studying charts
I'm getting better and better at stats and probably can get something out of it

Does such thing as a virtual trading exist, that collates in real time with the market?

I fancy building a knowledge base, but I'm far too tight to actually invest yet.
