It also looks like this will crash the pound to parity or below with the Euro as well. Brexit didnt manage it, but it could go lower than it did in 2008 quite easily if the coming worldwide recession is deep.... and I fail to see how this will not be worse than the 2008 crisis.
Why do you think the £ will be so much more severely affected than the Euro?

Very good article here https://www.poundsterlinglive.com/eur/12956-pound-euro-exchange-rate-charges-towards-parity

'The Pound is reliant on the steady inflow of substantial sums of foreign investor capital, drawn to the UK for exposure to the country's sizeable financial services sector, solid legal framework, beneficial timezone and business-friendly political environment.

However, when global investors run scared the Pound tends to suffer amidst a huge repatriation in capital, which creates downside pressures on the currency.'

Well, if the coronavirus doesn't get us, the crashing stock markets will I guess ! Looks like another torrid day, but I think ( probably hoping ) the rest of the week won't be quite as dramatic. Not much any of us can do but ride this out ; as bad as this crisis is, and may become, it will end.

There will be a long term fallout from this. The taxpayer is going to have to loan colossal amounts of money to keep businesses afloat...and that will have to be repaid.

Alternatively, I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of BA renationalised. Privatise the profits, nationalise the losses, seems to be the British way.

Was holding my nerve quite well but bailed last week. Quite happy with that decision, I doubt there will be a recovery any time soon.

So, what's everyone's strategy now ? Who's bailing out whilst they can, and who is riding the storm out no matter what comes to pass ? Must admit I'm beginning to get nervous ...

I've been all cash since the end of the year anyway, just waiting for the bottom. I think we still have a way to go yet....just thinking of what the news is going to be. We've got the economic numbers and the cashflow crisis still to come, and the inevitable chaotic scenes in US and UK hospitals.
