Trainer craze

Fair point. However...footwear?! Like I said before, wanna come see my boxer short collection?

Yeah sure. Can you post pics of it first so I can see what you have got? Anything special and limited edition? I'm only really interested in Gucci though so unless you have some of them I'm out.

Argh sorry man, i'm not a top revenue earner.

Why would you display a trainer? I get displaying something that shows craftsmanship or even art. But an item of clothing?

I dont know really when you put it like that. Same reason I display all my old star wars micromachine toys on the opposite wall I guess. Im a huge nerd and enjoy looking at them.
Also its much easier to pick a pair out of 150 when they are all in glass display shelves rather than rummage through 150 identical boxes.

I dont do it to show off to other people, I actually keep my obscene collection and obsession hidden from most mates/people unless they have been into my office for some reason. Just too many awkward questions tend to follow. Most being "why".
Have maybe posted 20 pairs online but I cant be assed with that sort of thing.

Just a slightly odd personal obsession that I enjoy.

Probably stems from being a child and never being allowed to spend more than £30 on a pair.

That's just utterly weird. I could get it as a parody but this seems like they're attempting to be serious.
There was an episode of Scooby Doo on the other day about rare trainers. It is very mainstream.

Ah yes, Scoob, our great reference for modern cultural norms! :D

Again this just begs the question of why? Is it not just 'mainstream' because a few rappers/singers seem to have a borderline fetish over it, hence it enters pop culture?

Have you heard of Michael Jordan? You are being obtuse now or just plain ignorant.

"The basketball legend is most famous for his Nike Air Jordan clothing and trainer brand, which has recently partnered with Parisian football club Paris Saint-Germain to provide their 2021-22 home kit.

His deal with Nike is perhaps one of the most lucrative endorsements in sporting history and has earned Jordan approximately £1bn since 1984, when he first joined the Chicago Bulls."

Yeah, guy played basketball and retired decades ago. What's that got to do with putting trainers on a shelf?

You don't see people routinely wearing a single glove and keeping a collection of gloves a la Michael Jackson.
