TRAMP CIDER!

Major bump on a thread but came up on first page of google!!

Went to lidl shopping for the first time ever today, thought I would try the Taurus Cider...4 cans for £2.39 or something...beauty!!

Anyone tried their lagers??

Yea, I've drank a lot of their own brewed lagers. They aren't great, akin to Tennents/Carling/Grolsch/Budweiser sort of quality and taste.

However, Lidl and Aldi both sell decent branded beer for pennies. My local one has a fair amount of Wychwood stuff for £1.10 a bottle or something. They often have lots of other good, known, British ales for cheap as well.

Reading the thread I've noticed too many mentions of supermarket own brand and strongbow 2l

When buying cider on the cheap your main goal should be units or percentage per litre , that way less of the off tasting liquid has to touch your lips

Trust the tramps!

What sort of cider is it? Looks like it will taste like a poor man's Magners. Considering that Magners is one of the worst ciders available, I do not hold out much hope.

If it tastes more like a proper English cider, I could be interested.

Henry Weston vintage is often on offer 2x500mL bottles for £3, and at 8.2% it represents a good alcohol/cash ratio :D

The best half decent bang for buck cider is 4 x 500ml of Scrumpy Jack for £3.50 in Asda.

You can get cheaper, but this is the lowest I will go.

I once bought some cheapo cider when I was a student, and on the way home from the offy I passed a tramp on a bench who was swigging from a bottle of wine.

You know you've hit a low when the tramps are drinking better quality booze than you. :D

Pfft i got through Uni on White Lightning and Stella Snakebites and Tudor rose finest Sherry at £1.99 a bottle...:p

It also predates white lightening being taken off sale due to having to much of a chavy image, which confused me a bit when opening this thread, Lol.

Do they still sell K cider? That was something ridiculous like 8.2%

Yup. Saw some for sale in that fine store called Asda the other day. Taxed through the roof like Special Brew now so about £2 a can.
