Transgender MTF picked for Olympics weightlifting

It's very hard to express how stupid you have to be to make a statement like this whilst apparently being sincere.

Female football players are paid less than male ones because they play a very inferior version of the game that is watched by far fewer people which therefore does not generate enough money to pay the wages that the likes of the premiership get.

A national women's team is very likely to be beaten by a lower league male team and the woman's team will likely be being paid more for this!

You really are the poster boy for how people who claim to have PhD's can still make the most stupid of claims.

Translation: lots waffle because you are a vacous emoter.

Again, @D.P. , like other posters has over-simplified the situation. As proven, at the national level, male and female players get paid the same.

At the private level they are not paid the same for the very valid reason people have pointed out.

What @D.P. has either deliberately missed or is ignorant to is that at the private level not all male players are paid the same thus making @D.P. 's point invalid.

And I'm sure if someone did enough digging, there will be female players paid more than some male players.

No it doesn't include the person called Hubbard if that's what you mean.
Of course Hubbard is going to want to compete against (or rather destroy) the competition regardless.

She met the requirements laid down by Olympic rules, why can't you accept that?

Should rules be followed or not?

Not when there are separated male/female games for a reason which is being ignored (bone density, muscle mass, strength, etc) transgender women have a inherent advantage over biological women regardless of which way anyone decides to argue it.

Its basic biology.

Stupid rules deserve to be scrutinized.

To be fair "she" probably took all the same drugs to mask the test nearly all of them take in the off season before testing anyways lol.

The amount of assumptions and ignorance of this statement is staggering.

Do you really think that the IOC rules and guidelines on transgender athletes are that simple?

Hubbard is in with a chance of winning but she was 6th in her last competition. Not sure why you think she is going to turn up and beat the others by a big margin.

Stunning and brave!

'Matildas lose to team of Newcastle Jets teenagers, prompting backlash from pundits.'

Football commentator and former national manager Sarah Groube said the whole situation was a bit of a "storm in a teacup", considering it was quite normal for the Matildas to play and lose against male teenage footballers.

Yeah we saw this play out when Cartman entered the special olympics.

Don't have a clue what the rules are, Sankari's post gave a good reason.
You can't honestly think its fair for Hubbard or any other trans female to compete against women, there are massive differences in body structure regardless of testosterone levels.

You can't honestly think its fare for Hubbard or any other trans female to compete against women, there are massive differences in body structure.
The interesting thing in Sankari's post though is the Williams sister comparison. What he is saying is that, even 'aside' from the physical differences between men and women, or maybe even 'because of' the differences, they play two totally different games. It is more similar to how boxing classes are divided up. They just play differently, leveraging their strengths.

Maybe re-educate yourself.

Do you mean 'Fair'?

If so, Yes, she is recognised as a women regardless of you antiquated and bigoted views.

She meets the rules/guidelines laid down by the IOC and other Athletic bodies, which puts you in the wrong.

In this spirit, the IOC Consensus Meeting agreed the following guidelines to be taken into account by sports organisations when determining eligibility to compete in male and female competition:

1. Those who transition from female to male are eligible to compete in the male category without restriction.
2. Those who transition from male to female are eligible to compete in the female category under the following conditions:
2.1. The athlete has declared that her gender identity is female. The declaration cannot be changed, for sporting purposes, for a minimum of four years.
2.2. The athlete must demonstrate that her total testosterone level in serum has been below 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to her first competition (with the requirement for any longer period to be based on a confidential case-by-case evaluation, considering whether or not 12 months is a sufficient length of time to minimize any advantage in women’s competition).
2.3. The athlete's total testosterone level in serum must remain below 10 nmol/L throughout the period of desired eligibility to compete in the female category. 2.4. Compliance with these conditions may be monitored by testing. In the event of non-compliance, the athlete’s eligibility for female competition will be suspended for 12 months.

Well if you allow it in one sport then you have to allow it in all sports.

I can see it now, Jamaca have new superstar runner in the Olympics.

Usain Bolt has come out of retirement to compete as a transgender.

Now tell everyone why Hubbard came sixth in that competition - because he was in recovery from a serious arm injury sustained in the Commonwealth games the year before.

Thats why no discussion can be had as anyone who disagrees is called a bigot for not conforming to ludicrous ideas.
