Transgender MTF picked for Olympics weightlifting

And where is the outrage that women soccer players are not paid equally as men?
do they sell out stadiums? sell as many season tickets as the men? gather as much sponsorship money as the men?

I'm guessing no, I couldn't even name one female footballer

Yes there is , they are a transgedner women so can compete with other women. Why try and cancel them?

They're transgender women rather than women i.e. they're males who identify as women!

No one is trying to cancel them, what do you even mean by that? Are you just throwing in inane comments to try and troll? Especially ironic after your statement that "I think it is a complex subject that wont have a reasonable discussion on OCUK."

They could compete as men, the whole point of having separate women's events was because of the biological advantages men have, gender identity doesn't change that. Or they could compete in a third trans & intersex event or indeed separate games.

Within the Olympic rules they are!!! They set the rules, not us.

The rules that the Olympic committee have agreed on are akin to someone saying, hey you can only compete in this motorsport race in a Ford Fiesta, and someone rolling up in a Fiesta with a twin turbo charged McLaren F1 engine, it's still a fiesta though right? The engine absolutely doesn't provide any additional benefit right?

Loving all the Gammon outrage here.

Strange that you of all people would bring a racist pejorative to a conversation that doesn't need to have anything to do with race?

If you removed your head from your fundament for a moment you might notice that plenty of women and people of all colours have an issue with trans activist ideology.

For example here's an example where one prominent, verified checkmark, Nigerian woman made an implied vicarious threat to another Nigerian woman over their stance on Trans activism.

It’s not gammon outrage, it’s people with a very valid argument about fairness in sport.
What’s your opinion?

He's likely won't have one he will want to provide and I expect if pressed on the issue he would parrot the party line of 'trans women are women' whilst simultaneously being unwilling or unable to provide a coherent definition of what a 'woman' was.

You are over-simplifying the situation. If you know anything about motorsport at the level of the Olympics, the rules are very complex as is the situation.

The Olympics is kinda **** anyway, just a big corrupt bureaucracy that bankrupts every city it goes to and is an endless source of brown envelopes that has emasculated Japan of all places...

Might as well provide some genuine entertainment.

Very true indeed.

And the spin this will cause with the larger viewing audience will be entertaining. They'll either have to accept it or if not hit the Olympics in the financial pocket and then they may change the rules back.

It's very hard to express how stupid you have to be to make a statement like this whilst apparently being sincere.

Female football players are paid less than male ones because they play a very inferior version of the game that is watched by far fewer people which therefore does not generate enough money to pay the wages that the likes of the premiership get.

A national women's team is very likely to be beaten by a lower league male team and the woman's team will likely be being paid more for this!

You really are the poster boy for how people who claim to have PhD's can still make the most stupid of claims.

As for my opinion, I think it is a complex subject that wont have a reasonable discussion on OCUK. Sports do need to be inclusive of all gender identities, and differences between hormonal environments during development need to be taken in to account. Professional sports bodies are reviewing and researching the options to make sports inclusive and fair, based on actual scientific evidence rather than the opinions of uneducated and biased

Translation: lots waffle because you are a vacous emoter.

The only good outcome is her winning by an obscene margin, thanks to her massive height and 30kg weight advantage, and then her **** flopping out during the medal ceremony.

My comment was that that might change going forwards, some intersex people have been campaigning re: this and would prefer intersex babies were left intact, perhaps they could then grow up as "non-binary" or some other gender identity - if that were to occur more frequently then you'd perhaps have less of an issue of (intersex) people raised as "girls" then wishing to compete as girls, you'd still have the trans issue though.
Thanks for acknowledging your post needed some clarity.
